It had been nothing more than a joke at the beginning as they both sported little fox ear headbands and fox tails, but now Adrien found that he couldn't help his smile. It was something that he hadn't really been allowed to do before, but with Alya now, he felt a little braver, a little bolder, like Cat Noir without the suit.
Alya shook her head, "I can't believe you." She shot him a look that told him that she definitely couldn't believe him though there was no anger or exasperation or anything of that sort behind it, more of a playfulness instead.
"You can't? But you've known me all this time." Adrien pointed out as he leaned closer to his girlfriend, "You look good as a fox."
"I do, but I never knew that my kitty boyfriend harbored dreams of being a fox too." Alya asked, "Or are you just Sunshine right now?"
"I'm always both." Adrien told her, "And I just wanted us to match."
"We don't need fake ears and fake tails to stay true to one another or as a sign of love." She pressed closer, hand brushing against his elbow, "Isn't that what rings are for anyway?"
"Umm..." The nervousness in his green eyes made Alya shake her head as she pressed closer.
"I don't need a ring to show that we love each other. We're a little young yet. Relax, Kitty." Alya murmured, pressing closer to kiss his cheek on her tiptoes, "Besides, it's kind of cute this way anyway."
She spun slightly to feel the tail wrapped around her waist spin a little.
Adrien smiled, "Aren't fox couples, mates?"
"They also scream at each other." Alya smiled, letting it curve up into a smirk, "Want to try it out?"
"No thanks." Adrien ran a finger across the fake fox ears on top her head, "You always did make a cute fox."
"Surprised you didn't say foxy." She murmured as she pressed close once again and took his hand in hers. "Of course, I do."
"'Don't have to, Alya." He smiled as he pressed a quick kiss against her cheek, still blushing as if it were their first ever cheek kiss though they'd had several and quite a few kisses on the lips before.
"Aren't you the cutest thing, Sunshine." Alya cooed, biting back a laugh, "Or should I say, 'Kit?'"
"That's you." Adrien murmured, and Alya smirked.
"it could be short for Kitty." She suggested and before he could get another word out, she almost hopped forward to steal a kiss from him. Hopefully, she'll still be able to playfully throw that nickname back at him and claim it as her own as she completely forgot the world around them, fake fox ears and tail and all.
