Disclaimer: I don't own NCIS. That would be cool, though.
A/N This is my take on what happened between Abby and McGee while Ziva and Tony were having their moment in the elevator. I think that has to be one of the BEST scenes EVER!
There are SPOILERS for "Swan Song" so if you haven't watched it, go do that...now.
Enjoy!
McGee walked down the stairs from the bullpen, an anxious feeling building up in his stomach. He knew what he was going to have to tell Abby. As upset as he was, McGee knew that he was going to have to be strong.
For her.
She met him halfway, right in front if the elevator. She squeezed him tightly, something he savored in, and whispered "Who is it?"
Abby pulled back leaving her arms on his.
"I know now that it's not Gibbs and now, you, because you've both been down to see me, and I know that it's not Ducky, because he drove the truck. But I haven't seen Tony or Ziva yet…."
McGee took a breath. "It's…I-It's…."he suddenly found his throat and tongue surprisingly dry.
"Oh, God. McGee please!" She begged, her eyes filling with tears.
"Mike." He whispered so softly Abby almost didn't hear him.
But, she did.
She collapsed into his shoulder and he held her up.
"SHhhhh Abby. Look, we're gonna- we're gonna get this guy."
She simply nodded, her head still residing on his shoulder.
"Tim," She started with a shaky voice. "Where was he? Mike?"
After he didn't respond, she asked again. But, knowing Abby, McGee was smart and finally gave her an answer, just probably not the one she wanted to hear.
"At Gibbs'."
She pulled away from him once more.
"At Gibbs'? You mean in front of his house?" She exclaimed beginning to panic. Fresh tears began to fall down her face."What if Gibbs had been out there? Was that who he was going for-Gibbs?"
"Abby look at me. Remember what I told you before: we're gonna get this guy. I promise. "
She wrapped her arms around him once more. They stayed like that for a while, until the elevator doors opened, revealing Tony and a teary-eyed Ziva with their arms around each other.
"Bring it in." Tony spoke gently.
Without hesitation, Abby and McGee stepped into the elevator and joined their co-workers; joined their family. They were a family- and unfortunately they had just lost an uncle. Tony gripped McGee's neck and Ziva stroked his hand. The girls had their heads together and Tony rubbed Abby's arm.
And together they grieved and took solace with the knowledge that the others were there, beside them.
Well, there you go. I hope you all enjoyed it! BTW- the movements in the elevator are actually from the clip- except for Tony and Abby, but I imagine that is what they would be doing.
Reviews are AMAZING (nudge nudge)
