Author's note: I'm not going to ask that you go easy, even though this is my first story. I would like to improve it as good as I can, so criticism is really welcome, I actually enjoy criticism on my work.
Chapter 1: The Swamp
The mud enveloped around your feet, thankfully stopping at your ankles. You were lost, alone, and hungry. Desperate, you packed up your tent, sleeping bags, and what was left of your firewood, since it rained last night. Obviously you regret this decision, but you didn't have knowledge of the looming swamp ahead of you. There are trees all around you, but you see a clearing up ahead.
Breaking into a spurt, you dashed forward in hopes of escaping the muck you were stuck in. You managed to evade the mud, only to realize that you ran right into someone's swamp, or should I say, some ogre's swamp. You thought of an explanation to why there was something would hang around this filth, let alone live in it. You slowly got into a crouching position, and scanned the swamp ahead. You stopped breathing for a few seconds, and tilted your head. "Snoring?" You thought to yourself. It seemed to stay at a steady volume. You didn't like taking chances, but anywhere would be better than having to crouch in mud all day.
You sloshed around in the mud, hastily making it to the dry land. You smiled at the sight of it, but unlike most people, you decided not to kiss it, you still didn't have the slightest idea where you were. After resting for a while, you decided the best thing to do was go straight up to the house and knock on the door. Striding up to the door, you reached out your hand. When you were about to knock you noticed a sign of a crudely drawn ogre. it had the word warning underneath. Your heart immediately started thumping as your heart rate increased. You were sweating heavily, and the loud snoring you were hearing came to an immediate halt. You started to tiptoe away, then crouched to sneak under the window. As you crawled away to safety, you heard the creature speak.
"I need to take a dump," it muttered to itself as it was walking to the door. As you heard this, you looked to where you were going. It looked like a badly made outhouse, which you immediately decided to go away from, since that was where this weird creature was going.
"left," you thought, taking a sharp left and ducking behind the house. The thing opened the door that looks more like a plank of wood than anything else, and walked outside. It then proceeded to scratch it's ass and stroll to the outhouse. You managed to make out the creature as an ogre, then immediately crawled through the window of his house in search of anything edible, since now you were starving.
