Title: Symphonic Beat (NicoMaki)

My vision veered off from the room, and stared into the window

"Ugh, why am I even here? I'm supposed to be at the beach with µ's!"

I've been tired lately. Studying, practicing; the normal student stuff, however, since I decided to be a doctor just like my parents, my workload just multiplied. I couldn't talk to the idol club, and I can't even talk to… her… I just don't know why I can't say her name; it was as if her very name stole my voice. It was enchanting, yet very frustrating as well. You might want to add her to the things that trouble me.

Unable to handle the uneasiness, I began to touch the keys of the piano. "Ahh, now I remember why I came here." The sounds of this mystifying instrument, the instrument which seemed to calm me, it was calling to me. "But, why did I go here, I have a piano at my house anyway," I mumbled to myself. At this, my fingers went to a sudden waltz. It was not a captivating melody. It was the sound of a frustrated pianist who seemed not to get why she was in doubt. Why am I pounding the keys? T-this is not me! I love the piano! This gives me light at the darkest times of my—

"What a terrifying score. Are you sure you're not trying to destroy the piano?" A voice suddenly said. I was sweating; the heat haze could've never been so hot. It was evident, even this person who interrupted me was drenched as well. However, the sun probably could never beat this heat dwelling in my chest. It pulls right on my heart strings. What a cruel twist of fate.

"We've been looking for you. Do you have any idea how tired we are? In fact, you should be grateful! People in universities don't have much time you kno-!"

I just couldn't resist. I just had to steal a kiss.

"H-hey! W-what was that for?!"

"You were the only one I was looking for, Nico." I think I understand now; why I feel this way. You vixen. How dare you steal my heart right in front of me. You stole it, and then ran away with it. I want it back.

"N-no fair! I wasn't ready!" Nico said with a tinge of red on her cheeks.

I smiled at this remark. I'm happy I didn't go to that beach.

"Ara ara, how daring Maki-chan~ but you'll be punished for ditching us you know~?"

The cicadas drowned our voices, but this was the best summer yet.
