MatchMaking Kwamis
A MIRACULOUS Fanfic
Mini Series
"Psst! Tiki!" Plagg beckoned from the ceiling window above Marinette's bedroom early one morning. Tiki opened her eyes were she slept on her owner's pillow. She blinked in surprise to see Plagg hovering just outside the window.
She flew up to meet him, flying right through the closed window, an action so easily mastered by Kwamis whom could fly through sold objects whenever they liked.
They each left Marinette to sleep whilst they talked on the balcony upstairs.
"Plagg what are you doing here? What's wrong?"
Rubbing sleep from her eyes she tried to focus on what Plagg wanted.
It took her a moment to realise that her normally flippant cat Kwami friend was looking very distressed and not himself.
"We HAVE to tell them!" He cried in a hushed whisper.
Now awake she could see her friend clearly in the lamp lights of Paris. The stunning Notre Dame gleamed in the distance behind him.
Having known Plagg for centuries she instantly knew what and whom the little Kwami was referring to.
Adrien and Marinette.
"Plagg you know we can't! Is this another late night craving for uncharacteristic honesty?"
"No!" He protested as he zig zaged back and forth in the air, the dawn's light ever faintly growing on the horizon. Slowly over taking the lamp lights of the beautiful city.
Placing his hands to his head he looked back at a knowing Tiki. Whom held a disbelieving look on her face.
"Yes! Fine it is but I tried camembert, it didn't work! If we don't tell them then they'll end up with other people forever thinking the other didn't care! Ohhh this is too much sweet for this Kwami to stand!" He cried softly in frustration tugging at his antlers. Pulling them down by his head like thin droopy ears. Tiki knew he cared more than he'd like to admit or else he'd not be here so churned up over the happiness of his owner. Uncaring Kwamis didn't invest in the love lives of their owners…Plagg did.
"We have to trust them and let them work it out on their own." She tried to convince him often wondering if it was to convince herself.
"-but Tiki he didn't even touch firsts with Ladybug today! He just stood there holding that other girl and then left Ladybug without so much as a backwards glance. This is getting crazy! First that guitar playing pirate boy now all these girls after Adrien, it's insane! Its…."
"Excessive, unsettling. Sad?" Tiki offered when Plagg seemed to lack for the right word but was still fuelled by his distress.
Then she sighed. "I know Plagg its worrying."
"Really? Sugar cube! He's starting to think he likes Kagami! Kagami!" Plagg cried indignantly.
"Her name sounds like paper folding!" Plagg continued. Completely dumbfounded at his master's interest in the young girl. Who was often spiteful and nasty. Especially to Marinette. Still Tiki giggled at the qip Plagg made. Swayed from her usual announce over Plagg calling her sugar cube by his sweet concern for the happiness of his master, and for hers.
Even if he was being a little silly.
Tiki felt a stirring in her heart that took her by surprise. She'd thought that feeling long since buried deep inside. It was easier to pretend when they were in the miracle box, but out here seeing each other every day, watching helplessly as his owner's love for hers put Plagg in danger every time they fought Hawk Moth
Tiki grew annoyed with herself. She wasn't in love with Plagg! She silently declared. Determined, totally certain…
At least that's what she had told herself for centuries.
Taking a deep breathe she ignored her treacherous little heart and smiled kindly at her friend, and yes he was just her friend….
Oh gosh, she really was as bad as Adrien!
Plagg was her friend but she was as in denial about him being more than a friend as much as Adrien was about his love for Marinette. Tiki sighed. Suddenly confused and upset. This was foolish. A good superhero always listened to her head not her heart. Kwamis should do the same…
"Plagg, we can't interfere." She tried to remain strong, assured of what was the right thing to do. To not let her own feelings cloud her mind. Or her heart.
Plagg let go of his antlers and flew really close to her, unknowingly setting her heart a flutter with his nearness.
"Come on Tiki when have we ever not interfered? Need I remind you of the last Ladybug and Cat Noir we refused to help?"
He demanded sharply. Knowing that the tragic horrific events that had befallen their last friends still burned strong in the minds of them both.
Tiki looked back down through the window at a safely sleeping Marinette. So young, younger than the last Ladybug to really hold the miraculous earrings. It seemed each time a Ladybug had feelings for anyone it ended in disaster, heartache and death reining supreme in the silence that their Kwamis kept. It terrified Tiki to think that this time things would end the same because they didn't say anything. Many thought Marinette love for Adrien was nothing more than silly girls crush, and that Cat Noir's feelings for Ladybug were nothing more than vain flirting on his part. Tiki and Plagg knew better than that.
Sometimes love, true irrepressible, selfless love struck young it didn't mean it was fleeting simply because these connected were still in their youth.
Many didn't understand and casted their mean, at times deadly, aspersions upon the young lovers. It often didn't end well. Did she really want the same to happen to her friend Marinette now?
Tiki sighed a deep heartfelt heaving sigh, that in its action changed the course of her opinions. Shifting from her vow to remain silent, she began to heartily believe that this time they could save the love birds. Not sit back and watch secrets tear them apart on account of their silly little silence.
"You're right Plagg, we do need to say something, but how? You know it could be risky?"
Plagg sent her a gaping grin his sweet little teeth at the corners of his mouth seeming to gleam triumphantly in the morning light.
"We need to plan it right." He said affirmatively. Slapping a closed fist into the palm of his other hand. Determined and resolute now that he had Tiki on his side. It was time. Things were growing increasingly unstable with other unkind humans threatening the fragile sweet love they both knew their masters had for each other and he wasn't about to lose another Ladybug and Cat Noir to the silence that bound them both. He'd never liked that bound. It had often proven less helpful and more hindering. Sometimes even ensuring the of actual death of Miraculous holders.
It was time to tell them the truth.
"….but how?" Both Tiki and Plagg wondered in unison each thoughtfully staring off into the morning sky.
How did a Kwami tactfully bring two sappy in-love-humans together when the fate of Paris hanged in the balance?
