it was supposed be a simple assignment. Go to the Emerald Forest and observe Grimm in their natural habitat. How it got so messed up was something that team RWBY still can't figure out. The moment thing went sideways was probably when the leader, Ruby Rose, pointed out a strange picture in the cave they were camping in. "Hey, is it just me or does this picture look like us?" Looking at the picture, the other members of Team RWBY had to agree that there was an uncanny resemblance.
"It does look like us," agreed Yang Xiao Long, Ruby's sister.
"But why would someone make a picture of us?" asked the Schnee Heiress, Weiss.
"I think more important question is who," responded Blake, a cat faunus. While the other member of the team were talking, Ruby decided to reach out and touch the picture. As soon as her fingers touched it, the picture began glowing. Dimly at first, it quickly brighten to a near blinding glow. This forced Team RWBY to cover their eyes, but they did hear a strange noise. It sounded like someone blowing into their ear, though that isn't exactly it. It was a tough noise to describe, but as quickly as it began, it stopped as did the blinding light. Opening their eyes, they were speechless. Instead of a cave, they were standing in front of a large building. Looking around, they couldn't see anything recognizable. It was also nighttime, which was concerning because it was only around noon when they entered the cave.
"I hope you have a good excuse for trespassing," said a stern, yet tired, voice. Turning around, they saw a man with bags under his eyes and a scarf of what looked like bandages resting on his shoulders.
"I'm sorry," apologized Ruby. "We have no idea where we are or how we got here. If you could point us in the direction of Beacon Academy, we'll find our way from there".
"I don't know any place called Beacon," the man told them.
"What about the Kingdom of Vale?" asked a concerned Yang. The man once again shook his head.
"Is there a CCT tower nearby?" asked Weiss. At the man's raised eyebrow, she guess that he didn't know what she was talking about.
"Um, we might not be in Remnant anymore," Blake spoke up while pointing up into the sky. Looking at what the faunus was looking at, the other members were surprised to see an unbroken moon. While their moon did look unbroken sometimes, when they went to bed last night, it was in its shattered phase. The man also glanced up at the moon, wondering just what was so important about a full moon.
"Where are we?" asked a worried Ruby.
"This is Yuuei High School," answered the man. "The premier high school for up and coming heroes".
"Heroes?" asked an interested Ruby. a different voice spoke up this time.
"Indeed," the voice said, "I'll take it from here, Aizawa".
"If you say so, Principal" said Aizawa before walking away.
"Principal?" said a surprised team RWBY.
"That's right. It's me, Nezu, the one who could be a dog or a mouse or a bear, but more importantly... I'm the principal!" he cheerfully said. Ruby's eyes sparkled as she tried to keep herself from petting the principal.
"How much did you hear?" asked Blake.
"Nearly everything," admitted Nezu. "Now while my fur keep me warm, I doubt you enjoy standing out in the cold". Nezu turned around and gestured for the four girls to follow him. Soon, they entered an office where Nezu offered them a seat. The next couple of minutes were spent answering Nezu's questions. "I see. While I don't know anything you mentioned, I have very little doubt that you're telling the truth".
"So what now?" asked Yang.
"I think the best course of action would to have you four join class 1-a and 1-b," said Nezu. "Those are our hero classes."
"Thank you," said Weiss politely. Nezu held up his paw.
"However, we need to make sure you're worthy of being students here," said Nezu. "So tomorrow, you will join class 1-a in their quirk apprehension test."
"Quirk are like semblances, right?" asked Ruby, making sure she remembered correctly. Based on Nezu's nod, she was correct in her comparison.
"Based on Aizawa's statement, we'll see if you can stay or go," said Nezu. "Sorry that we don't have a place for you to stay, but hopefully you can get some sleep before tomorrow". With that said, he left team RWBY to their thoughts.
This is the prologue for my next story. Pairings are still undecided
