The rain was coming down in sheets, as if all of the angels were crying for Remus Lupin. Sure, losing the most important person in your life was hard, but this person was the only person that Remus had left.

After Sirius had died, Harry and Remus had gotten much closer. The war with Voldemort had ended the summer after Harry, Ron, and Hermione had graduated, which had made them eligible to join The Order. Their relationship had turned into something more than friendship. It was not of a sexual nature, they were indeed very much in love with one another, but the physical aspect of their relationship was not sex, but being with each other, sleeping in the same bed wrapped around one another, and chaste kisses. When they were together, it was like nothing else existed in the world but them, they were inseparable. But after the war ended, they truly did have only each other.

(Flashback)

The final battle had been fought at Hogwarts during the summer month of July, which happened to be Harry's nineteenth birthday. The Order as well as many Aurors, students, and anyone who could lend a hand in the fight, were inside Hogwarts, saying goodbye to loved ones who were staying behind. Harry and Remus were together, but they were also with the Weasleys who were all fighting except for Ginny and Molly Weasley, Hermione and her family, as she was going to fight against her parents wishes, and other Order members they knew. As everyone was saying their last goodbyes, Remus and Harry walked away from the group to have some time alone.

Remus sighed as he held Harry's hand, they both faced each other, a tear running down each of their cheeks.

"If I don't make it," Remus was cut off by Harry.

"Don't start saying that Remus, do you doubt your dueling skills," Harry joked, trying to lighten up the situation. It got a small smile out of Remus as he pulled Harry into a hug.

"I'm serious though Harry, we have to face the facts, one of us or both of us might not come back," Remus said, his voice breaking.

"I know, but I don't want to think of that. I want to think about the here and now, and right now I am with you, so that is all that matters. Besides, both of us might come out of it alive," Harry said, pulling away from Remus to look into his eyes. They stayed like that for a couple of minutes, before kissing each other and resting their foreheads together.

"I love you," Remus said to Harry with a teary smile.

"I love you twice as much," Harry responded with a smile that mirrored Remus'. They then put their arms around each other and held on like they would die if they moved one inch away from each other.

Dumbledore called for everyone to get ready, which was the moment that everyone was dreading, the final goodbyes. Many people were crying, especially Molly Weasley, who was now crying openly, who was standing to lose her husband and five of her sons in the battle. Ginny was standing next to her mother, trying to support her the best she could, for she too was crying. Slowly, all of the people who would be staying behind filed into one of the secret passages out of the castle to Hogsmeade where they could apparate to safety. Remus and Harry went to the front of the Great Hall, hand in hand, where Dumbledore was having everyone gather so he could give the final instructions. Harry saw Ron and Hermione in back of him, Hermione's head on Ron's shoulder, they hands intertwined. They had started dating at the end of sixth year, Harry knew they would get married one day when he first saw them together.
