For You
The long years have proven to be rather unkind. Yǔwén Tuò willpower has carried his life through the centuries. He's seen friends and family live and die all in the name of love. Now, his strength is finally waning.
His continually weakening body and mind slowly traps him. "This…"
"I'm sorry," Dúgū Níng Kē whispers.
He gaze drifts to her face. He tries to take her hand in his but movement is no longer effortless. He clenches his jaw in silent aggravation.
Her hands cup his face gently. Her soft hands contrast with the dryness of his skin. She reaches over for a strip of fabric and dips it in water. As the liquid spreads over the cloth she struggles to maintain her composure.
If I knew you would hold on then I would have remained behind. She bites her lip. The sharp stroke of pain lasts only an instant. She does it again only to experience the same result. To experience pain is to be closer to what he is experiencing.
Tuò opens his mouth to protest. Her mask of caring and contentedness is weak. He can read her every emotion. As he tries to voice his distress she places the wet cloth on his forehead. The sudden coolness and moisture brings a relieved sigh to his lips.
Kē rises. Her footsteps are light as she treads further and further away from him. Her hands are beginning to tremble. Her façade is shattering.
"… Kē…" he rasps.
She spins around and returns to his side in an instant. "Tuò, you're weak. You-"
His hand nudges hers. She lifts it, holding his cold hand with her warm ones. Her worried eyes meet his.
"Kē," he manages the form the beginning of a smile. "This is what I want… A moment with you is worth all of humanity's suffering…"
Her eyes fill with tears. She wraps him in a tight embrace.
Her voice cracks with the collision of sorrow and joy. "Same with me…"
Author's Note: Ahaha, this is… This is pretty decent. I had bad thoughts about this being really bad. I was quite worried. Now I'm far happier. I'm sorry that I didn't get this up earlier. I got distracted with Seven of the Sky videos… again. Oh, with his name I actually got 'Ta' from the translator when I went hunting for the tones. The tone on the a was downwards so I thought this was my best bet at getting the name right. Thank you for reading. I hope that you enjoyed reading.
