Hey people! This is my second fic, but my first sasusaku. It's gonna be more one sided, and probably dark. This is just the intro, so that's why it's so short, lol. I will update when I get 5 reviews!
________________________________________________________________________Intro
Sauske's brow twitched as the wind lashed furiously at his face, his feet pumping chakra as he ran swiftly and soundlessly through the treetops. Blood from the gashes across his torso and limbs poured out on to the branches as he ran, and he mentally cursed his luck. He easily dodged the explosion tags hidden strategically in the branches, never missing a single one. He couldn't. If he did, it would be fatal.
He jumped from tree to tree, never stopping for a break. He was almost out of all his chakra, and he knew he couldn't use his chakra reserve. It was just to damn dangerous. He could feel his body shutting down, but he knew he couldn't stop. Not with the akatsuki hot on his trail.
"Kuso…" He said under his breath. He really needed to stop. He could sense the akatsuki's chakra, and it would seem as if they had stopped chasing him. For now.
There was a clearing up ahead, and he decided to stop there for the night. In the middle of the clearing was a beautiful lake, the moonlight dancing across the smooth top. Off to the side was a medium size cave which had no signs if life.
"That will have to do for now…" sasuke sighed. He stripped off his clothes in the pale moonlight and laid them on a rock. He dove into the lake, relishing the cool sensation and tingling of the ice-cold water on his burning skin. After about 4 minutes, he got out of the lake and dried himself off with a jutsu that required a very small amount of chakra. He put his clothes back on and walked clumsily for an s-class ninja to the welcoming cave.
He tried to remind himself again why he was going back to konoha. It had been almost 6 years sense he left, and naruto and sakura had come for him several times. Every time they failed, and every time sakura had cried. That was almost 4 years ago. They haven't found him sense. He had always thought that she was weak, pathetic, useless…. But over the past 4 years he realized he loved her, more than anything. Even more than his revenge.
He had already killed itachi, and it was surprisingly easy. Sasuke knew itachi had let himself be killed. It still made his stomach churn to think about it…
He kept telling himself the reason he was returning was because ho owed some sort of debt to konoha, but deep down he knew that wasn't true. It was because of sakura. He needed her know more than anything. And that's what kept him going instead of dying on the spot. It would be so much easier to just rest his head on the cold stone wall of the cave and let it all slip away. But he needed to hold on… just a little longer…
He laid his head back onto the hard, cold stone floor in the depths of the cave. He wrapped bandages around his now scabbing wounds, and the pain subsided, if only in the slightest. His world started to get hazy, and his eyes shut as he fought off his well-deserved and could-be-deadly rest. His shoulders slumpt, and blackness encased him. He never dreamed anymore. For that he was sure of.
