Notes: A pair of poems written July 2008. Colorful monsters.
undulate so deeply
If the ocean was ever blue, I deny it
(did waves ever swell as beautifully as your lungs still taking breath?)
never so blue as the haze clouding your red, red eyes
I can't remember if ink was ever black
(did paint ever flow as smoothly as your steps one unto the other?)
couldn't have been the steely black behind your red, red eyes
benevolence to slit your throat
it would be kind, to this burning, howling beast
to pierce the bubbling cloak and the demon beneath it
screaming vulpine terror, the bushy tails twisting with fury
but the fur is skin and the claws are hands and this beast is a boy you used to know
generosity, more than this bastard deserves
to kill it as it stands poised to destroy everything you've built
the coiled snake licking its lips as it anticipates swallowing you whole
how dare it; how dare it smile through his lips and look upon you with his eyes
