Alrighty, I'm going to try William's POV, sorta…hope it's ok.
He had no idea how to dance.
Shocking, right? The William--scratch that...The Ulrich Von Lichtenstein did not know how to dance. It was a disgrace! It was horrible!
It was true…
He didn't even want to go in the first place. The only reason he was going was because Lady Jocelyn was going, and he needed to find some way to win her heart. He knew Adhemar was going to be there, and didn't want him to get farther ahead than he for her.
That's why, if you were looking, you could find him, Wat, Chaucer, and Roland in the barn, trying to learn how to dance. Well, he and Wat were dancing.
He needed a tunic, too, which was another problem, for he didn't have one at all. Roland had already told her handmaid that his was green, so he was busy sewing. Which was a funny sight in William's opinion, for the man didn't look like he could sew at all.
Chaucer was helping keep the beat for them, along with chanting weird nonsense. Of course, none of it helped for the fact that Wat and he kept screwing up.
Chaucer, still chanting, made a comment on how Wat was supposed to follow like a girl, and Wat, completely misunderstanding, stopped and punched him.
They kept on trying, the only thing different was the fact that Chaucer had a tissue up his bloody nose (literally). Even though he had been punched for his earlier comment, Chaucer once again started chanting. "You can hit me all day, because you punch like a, what?"
Roland, who was still sewing, answered, "A girl," then looked up from the clothe and laughed.
They all heard laughter then and all looked up, to see…that, blacksmith woman.
What was her name again? He knew it started with a…K…he thinks.
Ka-Katie? No…..it's….Kate! That's it, Kate! That was her name. After his amazing discovery, he asked Kate why she was laughing, as if she could dance any better.
She gave him a look. Letting out a half-laugh, she said, "Of course I can."
He smirked, "Would you like to prove it?" he watched as she put on a mock thinking face, "Ahhh," then smirked right back at him, "No."
He stared at her back, for she had turned around. He felt a smile come onto his face. Feisty…
He then broke out of his thoughts when Roland started grumbling, "If I'm going through all this trouble, then you better learn how to dance. Ask her properly."
William sighed, and gathered his pride up, "Kate…will you….teach me how to dance?" A silence filled the air, one that made everything stuffy and uncomfortable. William was so close to fidgeting in his spot when he heard her voice.
"okay," he looked up to see her smiling face.
All William could think was, Thank God…
They were still practicing, and when it finally came down to him and her dancing together, he had, oddly enough, gotten butterflies in his stomach. This confused him to no end.
She put her hand in his, and instantly it warmed him right down to his toes, he let out an unperceivable shiver.
He'd have to ignore it.
When it finally came down to the ball, he was all set to be with Jocelyn. And when he saw her, he had to take a step back, for her hair had frightened him a bit. But he quickly covered it up, and smiled at her.
They sat down and gazed at each other. She, he guessed, gazing at his marvelously handsome face. While he…instead of seeing her red streaked hair, kept seeing normal black. And instead of seeing tan skin, he saw pale ivory skin.
He tried putting the image out of his mind, and when he started complementing her, he still had the image stuck in his head.
It was as though he were talking to the blacksmith instead of the royal.
William didn't know what to think of this.
