A Different Level
Somewhere in town, a little cottage stood with lights illuminating its surroundings. Inside, the town doctor hurries carefully to see about his new patient. Everything has to be done accordingly in order for his patient to make it through. In the den, Raphael paces back and forth wondering the outcome as Amy sat down trying to keep calm. The fireplace cracking as it keeps the area warm. There was deafening silence not so much a pin dropped. It's been hours since they last spoke to the doctor. Amy sat nervously as she bites her nails. She looks at her father with concern as he walks in front of the fire with a worried look. "Will she make it, father?" Amy asked with care. He turns to her and answers, "I hope so, darling!" Finally, he steps out from his room wiping his hands with a stern look on his face. Both Raphael and Amy ran to him in a panic inquiring about what happened. He holds Amy and gasps as he prepares to hear whatever the doctor say. The doctor wipes his forehead and looks at them. "She's going to be okay!" the doctor says assuredly. A sigh of relief came from Raphael as he holds his chest. Amy hugs her beloved father at the news. "May I go and see her?" he asked. The doctor responds "Yes, but not too long. She's still under the affect of the anesthesia." Carefully, Raphael walks back towards the room and sees Michelle lying peacefully on the bed. He walks up to the bed and sat beside her. He rubs her forehead and plants a kiss on her lips. She wakes up and smiles faintly as she discovered who it was. "Where…..where am I?" she spoke weakly. "You're at the doctor, Cherie. It was the only way to keep you alive!" he whispered. He rubs her hair in assurance that things are going to be fine. She struggles to sit up but the unbearable pain prevented her. Raphael grabbed her and laid her back on the bed. "Shh! Don't overdo it." Michelle snickered and responded, "I never thought you cared so much!" He looks at her and continues to speak. "I know you have nowhere to go so I was wondering….would you like to come stay with us?" She looks up at him with a surprised yet astonished look. She replied "Who's 'us'?"
"Well, myself and Amy, of course. It's been a long time since I've entertained anyone. Let's say you come with us! Sounds ok, mon amour?" Michelle took careful thought in what he was saying!
"It would be nice. Ok, I will come with you!"
After hearing her response, He bends over and gives her a tender hug. Few days later, they were preparing to go on their way. Raphael paid the doctor for whatever services rendered. Amy and he prepare to get on the carriage while Michelle already is seated inside. They were on their way back to their castle home. In the meanwhile, Michelle was awed at the scenic views of the countryside they drove through. It was like a vision of heaven, unlike the jungle she was used to. Raphael looked on and smiled with glee as he places his arms around her. She looks up at him and returns the warm gesture. The lush, green grass along with the beautiful cottages was on each hill. To her surprise, they were approaching a grand castle. Before she could say anything, he replied "We're home!" Still in a state of shock, she looks at the grand structure. The carriage pull up to the front entrance with servants lined up waiting for their master. One of the servants hastily runs up to the carriage and opens the door. He assists Amy and Michelle out as Raphael later steps down. They walked into the castle. "Wow, this is beautiful!" exclaimed Michelle. She runs to the middle of the room and observes the splendor of the lush curtains, mantelpieces, and huge portraits. She also enjoyed the echoes whenever she spoke. She walks over to the wall where different swords were in display. Raphael looks on as he ponders, "She has a lot to learn!"
