Roxas sat on the tower that overlooked Twilight Town. He watched the sun setting, a brilliant red with a hot pink tint filled lightly into the sky, resembling cotton candy.
"I guess Axel's not coming", he sighed, talking to himself for company. He continued to gaze at the sunset.
Suddenly, a tall shadow that seemed oddly familiar was leaning against the wall of the other side to the tower.
"Of course I'm coming! Got it memorized?" Came an answer from a familiar cocky voice.
Roxas almost fell off of the tower. "AXEL!" He exclaimed happily. "You did come!"
Axel stepped into view. "Of course. Who else'd you expect? Larxene?" He joked, red fiery hair glistening in the sun.
Roxas grinned, glad his best friend made it. He watched as Axel came and sat down along the ledge. "I thought the Superior had given you an EXTRA hard mission."
Axel shrugged. "Nah, they all seem pretty easy now. Speaking of, how 'd your day come out? The Superior kill you?" He chuckled. "With that zombie-like brain of yours, I'm still amazed you're alive."
Roxas jokingly tried to punch his friend, but Axel quickly and gracefully evaded it. "Nice try, short stack."
"I'm NOT short!" Roxas whined, somewhat sounding like a young child.
"Oh, really?" Axel edged on, standing up. "Well, let's see."
Roxas accepted this challenge and immediately stood up, trying his best to look tall.
That did it.
Axel stood in amazement, jaw slightly dropped. "Hey... you actually ARE growing up!" He grinned. "I can't believe this!" He jokingly took his hand and lowered it halfway to the ground. "You used to be THIS tall..." He even threw in a quivering lip.
Roxas chuckled. "Well... I guess you can't call me short stack anymore. Too bad." He sighed sarcastically.
"Yeah right! You'll always be a short stack to me!" Axel grinned mischievously.
Roxas moaned. "No fair..."
Axel suddenly gained a serious face. "But seriously, Roxas.... I don't wanna be a drag, but be happy with who are now. Growing up isn't all that fun. One day you'll regret wasting these days..." He stared into the sun, eyes a far off stare that Roxas couldn't read.
"Axel... That was... really deep, even for you." He finally managed, taking the words in. Axel was indeed right. He was growing up, even if it was slow, and he had been wasting the previous days. Everything seemed so precious now. Each week, Each day, each minute, each second.
Axel looked back over to Roxas finally, that famous cocky grin back on his face.
"Now... how 'bout some of that ice-cream?" He pleaded.
Roxas chuckled and handed Axel, his best friend, some of that sea salt ice-cream they so often shared.
Even for being a nobody, hanging out with Axel made Roxas feel like Somebody. A person. A real person with friends.
The End
