Disclaimer: I do not own Harry Potter or its characters. J.K. Rowling does. I only own the plot of this story.
You've held me captive for seven years now. No matter where I turn you're whispering down my back. Life has ceased to exist as I battle to escape your clutches. Please, just leave me be.
Why do you persist in haunting my dreams and my every waking hour? Why can't I be left alone? Please, just leave me be.
Every time I turn you're laughing in my face. You've just claimed the life of another one of my friends. You couldn't stop when my parents were taken from me. No, you had to worm your way into every living soul and take something from them also. Please, just leave us be.
Historians have often said that you claim the lives of hundreds even thousands. However, I think you claim something more. I think you claim the souls that are still living. It wasn't enough that you took our loved ones from us; you had to take our sanity with you so that we could no longer function normally. Please, leave us be.
Now that I fully give my life to you and our cause; perhaps, you'll leave them be…
It is just a mere hope that I could be left alone as well.
Author's Note: I wrote this believing and hoping that it would be found before Harry marched off to fight his greatest battle. (Of course, the inspiration came a little too late.) You can interpret that battle as the one with Voldemort. I choose to see Harry's battle as the one with the war itself. In a war we do not fight one person; we fight for one cause. Harry was fighting for the chance that his family and friends could find peace in their lives.
P.S. Sorry if I sound philosophical, but as I said inspiration came, and I felt Harry's story needed to be told.
