Yoichi awoke with a start, hyperventilating and a panicked look in his eyes. He shakily looked round and sighed sadly, drawing his knees to his chest. This couldn't keep happening, he couldn't keep dreaming of his sister's death, always under the bed shaking in terror. Trying to forget about it, Yoichi got up and padded out to Yuu's room. The rebellious raven was always a comfort to him, a protector. Yoichi opened the door carefully and quietly slipped inside, shutting the door gently and padding over to the occupied bed where Yuu slept.

"Yuu..." The brunette gently shook the other boy but only got a grumble in response. Yoichi sighed quietly and took a bargain at sliding under the sheets with the raven. Yuu didn't stir, even when he turned to face Yoichi and allowed the timid boy to wraps his arms round his torso, burying his head into his chest. All was silent until Yoichi felt Yuu wrap an arm round him in return - he must've woken him anyway.

"Yoichi...?"

"It's me, Yuu".

"Are you okay?"

"Y-Yeah, I'm fine. I just wanted some company, is all".

"You had that nightmare again huh?"

"Yeah...I'm sorry... I know Guren keep telling me to forget about it but-"

"No, it's alright" Yuu slowly opened his eyes, "I have nightmares about the day I left Mika too..."

"But Guren says it's a weakness. Guren says we should forget. Guren says that-"

"Who cares what that bastard says. They were family to us, we're not gonna forget just because he says so. Your sister may be gone, but you still have me. Guren may say that what we have is a weakness, well I haven't been slain by one of those bloodsuckers yet because of it. And you won't be either, not on my watch".

"Yuu..." Yoichi nestled closer to his friend and shut his eyes. "You mean that, don't you?"

"Of course I do. I'm not letting anyone hurt anybody again. Those stupid vamps will have to tear me limb from limb before that happens". The stubborn raven pulled his friend closer and ran his fingers through his hair comfortingly. "I promise Yoichi...we're gonna avenge our family. I promise we will..."
