Another original Thomas story, this time it's "Sliding Dangers" with added lines by tate310. Enjoy and comment.
It was wintertime on the Island of Sodor. All the engines were working hard, but had to be careful of icy track.
Sir Topham Hatt came to Tidmouth Sheds.
"James, you are to take the presents train to a special party at Knapford Station." he said.
James was excited. He loved taking the presents train.
"But you must be careful." added in Sir Topham Hatt. "The tracks are very icy, and you must puff very slow, especially on Gordon's hill."
James wasn't listening. He was thinking about how happy the children would be when he arrived with the presents train.
"You must be careful." said Edward. "The rails are going to be very icy."
But still, James didn't listen. He had happily puffed away.
James puffed through the countryside. Snow was everywhere, and the tracks were icy, so James puffed slow.
Just then, he saw Percy.
"Hello James!" said Percy.
"Hello Percy!" said James.
Percy always liked talking to James, even though they don't work as often as they used to.
"Are you taking the presents train?"
"Yes I am." boasted James. "The children are going to clap and cheer when they see me with the presents train."
"You need to be careful going up Gordon's hill. Driver says it's really icy."
"Bother!" said James. "That means I'll have to go slow, and then I'll be late for the party."
Just then, an idea flew into James's funnel.
"Can you help me deliver the presents train?"
"Of course!" replied Percy. "After all, we want to be really useful."
So James and Percy puffed away.
Soon they reached the top of Gordon's hill. It was icier than ever.
"Look at all that ice." said Percy. "With all this ice, we'll be late!"
"Don't worry." said James, "we'll just slide down the hill"
"Sliding?" asked Percy. "Isn't that dangerous?"
"No! It's fun!"
Then there was trouble...
"WHOA!" cried James. He was sliding out of control!
James was sliding and going faster than ever!
But there was worse to come. A gigantic water-tank lied ahead. The driver applied the brakes, but it was too late!
The tank fell, and landed right on the presents train!
Thankfully, no one was hurt, but the presents were spoiled.
Sir Topham Hatt arrived on-board Gordon. He was beyond, and I mean BEYOND cross.
"You are a very naughty engine!" he boomed. "You should have known better not to slide on Gordon's hill, and now you have ruined the presents and the party, and have caused severe confusion and delay!"
James was upset.
"What about the presents train?" asked James.
"You aren't doing that anymore James." he said. "You need to be taught a lesson, so you will be locked in your shed until you are ready to be useful again!"
That night, James sat all alone in the sheds, feeling very sorry for what he did.
