Branching Out

AN: Established B/B. Brenn POV. Fluff.

An anthropologist studies humans; a species so complex they must be simplified to study. People need food, work, culture, sex and companionship. This condensed version is what our favorite anthropologist thought she needed. No more than that.

She now has things she relies on that don't make sense. Booth has no answer, for she's not told him.

It's a need to sense his presence when she wakes up in the night. That space of grogginess before she falls back asleep is so much more bearable with the sensation of him snoring lightly. It's easier to get comfortable with the familiar warmth.

It's necessary to watch him sleep when she can't. When he's shirtless she needs to count the scars he's gotten for her and wonder about those she's not familiar with. Then she counts all those pale freckles on his broad shoulders.

After waking up to him having a nightmare, it's an undeniable urge to shake him awake and hug him. The urge is always obeyed.

When the watch TV or eat dinner she insures their arms brush together.

This is beyond friendship, food and sex. This is not anthropological. Being with Booth makes her appreciate small luxuries, anticipate them. She has everything she never thought she'd need.
