Silver Legacy
Absolved
Bellatrix was, for once, still.
Azkaban had left its mark upon her, though, and every now and then, her fingers twitched.
She felt smaller. Not incomplete, just smaller.
She was missing something – something big that had been with her almost as long as she could remember. Something that was bliss, then pain, then both at once. A presence, a power, that she had loved, and hated even more.
She was free now, free to do as she pleased without that constant apprehension at the back of her mind. Nothing the Dark Lord could do to her was half so bad as what he could have, would have and did, because emotions were made to hurt.
There was a gold band around her finger still. When at first she was free, she had slid it off and flung it far away, convinced she was better off without it.
She was, but all the same, not even an hour later she was searching for it desperately, suddenly unsure of herself. Her ring was the last trace of the name she had taken – Lestrange.
More to come, I promise.
