Forgot this the first time. I don't own any of the characters in this fic. If I did this would actually happen.
She often watched him while in battle. Whenever she had a few free seconds she would cast a glance his direction. He was stunning not only in appearance, tall, muscular, firm jaw set determinately below a his mask, but also in skill one moment using a dance like evasion from capoeira the next a brutal, bone smashing takedown from krav maga. It amazed her no matter how many times she saw it. And she had seen it many times. They had worked together for years fought countless battles together. In the field they were a perfect team hardly needing to utter a word to make their plans known to each other, but in their personal lives he said the danger was too great, that one of them would get hurt, and tat it would mess with the team dynamics. She know he would reject her if she brought it up again, tried talking about it with him and making him understand that none of that mattered to her, that she just want to be with him. So she watched.
He saw her staring at him and he knew exactly what she was thinking. He thought the same thoughts every day. He loved her there was no denying that but the risks where to great. At least that's what he told himself. The truth was he was scared. Scared that if he finally made a move finally asked her to dinner that she wouldn't feel the same way about him when they actually talked, actually got to know each other. He thought about the times they had spent together, hours on stakeouts and intergalactic flights. He thought about the talks they'd had, talks about enemy's and allies, about combat techniques and tactics, about battles past and future, and also about their lives their exes, their covers, families, friends, the various cultures they'd visited, and about themselves, and he knew what he had to do.
The battle was over. Their enemies lay before them restrained for the police to take away. As Batman, the dark knight of Gotham approached Wonder Woman, the breath taking Amazonian princess, he cracked a rare genuine smile and asked her calmly if she would do him the honor of joining him for dinner the next night. She was taken aback at first but rapidly regained her composure and accepted. As the rest of the team exchanged glances and the Flash loudly told Green Lantern that he owed him twenty bucks they smiled at each other and parted ways, the Amazon already thinking about what she should wear and the billionaire wondering what he should have Alfred fix.
