It was like any other night. Except this time, Light was chained to another. He was chained to the world's best detective. Ryuzaki, if that was even his real name, agreed to let Light have a short walk around the perimeter of the building, but only if he could come too. Light sighed, before a drop of rain hit the nape of his neck. The cold little droplet rolled down his back and he shivered, before another one hit his wrist. Light stopped walking.

"Maybe we should go back inside. It's going to be pouring soon." Light said, looking up at the sky. Another drop hit his forehead and rolled down to the tip of his ear. Above, the clouds turned a frightening gray. The wind picked itself up, and Light saw L's messy hair being ruffled by the breeze's delicate fingers.

"It's just a little rain. Nothing I can't handle. And I'm ninety-percent sure that goes the same for you, Light-san." Ryuzaki said, looking over his shoulder at Light. For a second, as their eyes met, Light felt the strangest feeling growing in his stomach. It was as if butterflies entered through his nose as he took in a breath, and flocked to his abdomen. The feeling went away, though, as he cleared his throat.

"Alright. Maybe we could walk around a bit more and then go back inside. It's just a little rain. Nothing more, nothing less." Light watched as the hands in L's jean pockets clenched. The detective looked away, and his expression darkened.

"Yes. Alright, let's walk a bit more."

They walked for what felt like forever, in a deafening silence that was drowned out by the pitter-patter of the falling rain. It was awkward, yes, but eerily... Comforting. In that moment, all Light wanted to do was to throw his arms around the pale man, and scream "Why do you hate me?!" But his body just wouldn't move. It only walked forward, slowly soaking in the rain. His clothing and his hair were both dripping as the rain poured and poured and poured. Eventually, L stopped. He turned around to face Light, his hair laying flat and covering his eyes as effect to the rain.

"Light-san, there's been something I've been meaning to tell you." He said eventually, shoving the hair away from his face to uncover his black, beautiful eyes. He moved forward, and Light stood still in shock, his body paralyzed as L looked at him with eyes full of an emotion Light had never seen before. Ryuzaki's hands reached out from his soaked pockets, and gripped Light's face. He moved closer and closer until their foreheads finally touched.

"You just look... So beautiful in the rain, Light-san. It's as if you were made for it." His words shocked Light even more, and the butterflies came back into his stomach, at an intense rate this time. He felt as L's thin fingers combed through his hair with one hand and gripped his face with another.

Then, his lips crashed onto Light's. It was just them, standing in the rain on the sidewalk, and Light never wanted the moment to end. He slowly raked his hand through Ryuzaki's hair in a loving manner. His feelings bubbled to the surface as they kissed, wet and hungry for more. He knew this wasn't the end. He loved L, with a passion that not even Misa could replace.

They both knew that the rain was never going to be the same for either of them.

Hey everyone! Pocky here! Hope you enjoyed my rain fic. This was, sadly, a one-shot, but I will be working on more anime one-shots to publish! Thank you for suffering through that ooey-gooey fluff. It was such a joy to make. *rolls eyes* THAT WAS ACTUALLY MY FIRST YAOI ONESHOT! So I'm sorry if it was too short or I didn't add something I was supposed to.

Light: Can we go now?

L: Yes, I was wondering the same thing.

Pocky: *pulls out gun* SHUT UP AND GET BACK IN THE CLOSET!
