Long ago there where 5 bending abilities: Water, Fire, Earth, Wind, and Ice. All of these had lived in peace. Everyone knew what Water, Fire, Earth, and Wind bending was, but no one knew what Icebending was. All they knew was that they lived on top of the coldest mountains, manipulating ice and snow. Now, the difference between an ice bender's ice and a water bender's ice is that the the icebender's ice doesn't melt and it forma like a crystal.
The people who have never seen a icebender believe that they are not human, but people didn't do anything about it. In fact, it was because of them that they all live in peace.
One day the kingdoms found a way to combine bending and soon they created avatars they are very rare only few of the people are born bending all 4 elements. Then, one fateful day, the Fire King decided to create a person that is able to bend all 5 elements. For this, he needed royal blood of the ice princess. That means that he needed to speak to the Ice King. So he sent a note to him by bird. But when the bird came back, he was surprised to find that the answer was no. The Fire King went on his own to figure out why, but he brought his troops along with him. If he had to use force, he was going prepared to use it.
This was the first Bending War, and this was the end of the Ice Kingdom. Or was it? The princess wasn't missing. People believed she was hiding in the mountains somewhere, but she never appeared, and now she is just a legend.
