D/C: I do not own Naruto. That is all.
I wrote this possibly cliche drabble fic in about fifteen...twenty minutes... and I'm surprised at the progress.
"I hate gray clouds," Sakura muttered darkly as she looked out her bedroom window on the morning of March 28th. She did not remember the importance of this day. "It reminds me of Sasuke." Ever since Sasuke defected, in between training with Tsunade and dealing with life in general, Sakura brooded over what she and Sasuke never had.
She dressed as usual, grabbed a piece of toast from the kitchen table, ignored her mother's calls, and went out the door with a frown on her face. She briefly looked up to see a green-clad smiling boy with a bowl cut and thick eyebrows. "Good morning, Sakura-san, and what a special morning it is for you!" Lee greeted, holding a wrapped package.
"Hi, Lee-san…" Sakura said and continued on her way over to the Hokage tower where Tsunade awaited her for training.
"But, Sakura-san, don't you want your present?" Lee called after her, running as fast as he could without dropping the package.
Sakura slowly stopped and registered Lee's words. "Present?" she murmured, and turned around to face Lee. "Lee-san, what is today?"
Lee looked shocked. "I can't believe that you would forget your own birthday, Sakura-san!"
Sakura's eyes widened. "You…you know my birthday, Lee-san?"
Lee smiled and handed the present to her. "Hai! It is most important for one so youthful to know the days most important to their precious person!"
Sasuke didn't know my birthday… Sakura thought, tearing up at Lee's sentiment. How could she have been so stupid? She was looking for something in Sasuke that she ignored in Lee.
Here was someone that unconditionally had feelings for her, tried so hard to get her attention, and even remembered her birthday, which she herself had forgotten. The tears fell upon the ground as she realized that Lee was what she was looking for. He was there all along.
"Thank you, Lee-san," she sobbed and embraced him. "Thank you for everything."
"Everything?" Lee wondered aloud but quickly cast that aside as he returned the embrace. "I love you, Sakura-san. I'll be everything that you need."
"Everything…" Sakura whispered with a shaky smile.
"Hai, everything."
The gray clouds disappeared and a bright blue sky appeared with the sun that shone with radiance above them.
And...I just realized that a couple of sentences allude to two certain songs... (sweatdrops) Please leave a review, be it a good one or a bad one. :)
