Hello, first ever short oneshot and this one is a music fic. Thinking about extending it, but not entirely sure where to go with it from here. This song is originally from the band Soundgarden called "Head Down". It came from my idea to reinvent labyrinth with a new sound for a new generation since it came out when I was kid. That included giving our favorite Goblin King a new voice even though the band was out around the time the movie came out too. Nevertheless, I've always wondered what he would sound like with a rougher, edgier voice. So I chose Chris Cornels' voice and personally like how it comes out in the oneshot even though he only has a small part. Hope readers like, please, no flames. Remember this is my first story so be gentle I beg of you. Oh! And I don't own anything from the movie Labrinth, characters, etc, or this song included.
She found herself walking through the empty corridor with no memory of how long she'd been there or how she arrived. Suddenly, music filled the air bringing with it grotesque shapes and shadows. Swaying to their music, they danced closer dousing her in glitter in sync with the rhythm of their song. She is dizzy and sways to the music in cadence with the shapes. Her eyes roll and she found herself smiling despite the precarious situation. Claws developed from the disembodied shapes wrapping around her, twirling her within their grasp as unseen mouths sing.
We See You Laugh, We See You Dance
We Take That Away
Every Day
Clothes change to layers of soft silk and her hair was pinned and styled with gold. Something in her mind screams out in defiance. She suddenly jerks away only to be snatch back. More glitter showering down to chain her mind.
We See You Cry, We Turn Your Head
Then We Slap Your Face
She enters the throne room with her silk robe flowing around her. The goblin king lounging with his legs up notices her approach. Surrounded by goblins at his feet, they continue to sing as she approaches. Slowly, he straightens up as his expression instantly morphs from momentary shock to growing interest in the girl approaching him.
Bow Down, Bow Down
Bow Down To Live
She ascends up the steps toward the king, stops a few feet away, and bows deeply.
Bow Down, Bow Down, Bow Down To Live
Your Life
The king approaches the kneeling girl and harmonizes with his goblin subjects.
Head Down, Hide That Smile
Head High Got To Smile
She lifts her head still smiling and he extends his hand toward her which she takes. Drawing her near, he brings her hand to his lips as he sings extending the last note.
Head High, Head High
Head High Like a Song You Like
As if waking up from a dream she snatches her hand from him, and takes two steps to run. She grabs her head as the pain begins.
We See You Try, We See You Fail
Some Things Never Change
She grabs her head bending over in pain. Then as suddenly as it began the pain was gone, and she shakes her head as her smile reappears on her face. The goblin king watches the scene unfold with growing interest.
We Hear You Cry, We Hear You Wail
We steal that smile from your face
She turns and approaches him bowing deeply in shame of her actions. He steps forward singing once again and cups her chin.
Head Down, Hide That Smile
Head High Got To Smile
He brings her closer to him as he sings closing the gap between them.
Head High, Head High
Head High Like a Song You Like
Before their lips can touch, she breaks away from him and runs. She runs through the sinuous path unsure of where she is going, but knowing she must escape. Soon her feet aren't touching the ground and she is falling. She falls endlessly until she suddenly feels the softness of her bed beneath her. Jolting up from the bed she looks at her surroundings in trepidation. Was it all a dream?
