Everything was packed and ready to go, all Nelson and his dad had to do was get in the car and leave.
"Can I come?" a little girl from the neighborhood asked walking into the yard.
"No" Nelson said.
"You say that now but you'll be begging for her to come later." His dad said and nodded to the little girl.
"Take Shawn then." Nelson pouted.
"Why don't you call your mommy and daddy." his father told the girl.
"I don't want Reyna to go." Nelson said.
"In a few years you'll change your mind." His dad said.
His dad wasn't lying either. The two hooked up 2 years later and had been together for six straight years.
"I love you, Nelson" Reyna whispered as they left the theater.
"Love you to Rey." He said and kissed her.
A guy came out of nowhere and grabbed Reyna's arm. Nelson started to try get her back until he pulled a gun and put it to Reyna's head.
"Just do everything I tell you and your pretty little girlfriend won't get hurt." the guy said and Reyna started crying.
"Here take it." Nelson said and started emptying his pockets. "Please just don't hurt Reyna."
The guy took everything Nelson had offered and eventually let Reyna go after he gave her a good scare. The two married only a year later. 4 years after that Reyna announced that she was pregnant.
"Nelson baby we have to go." She whispered softly to him as he slept.
"Go were?" he asked opening his eyes.
"It's time." She said with smile.
He flew out of bed and they soon left for the hospital.
He paced nervously as she went into emergency surgery. An hour later the doctor came up to him.
"How are they?" Nelson asked.
"Your son is very healthy, but you'll have to leave. His mama is fading fast." The doctor said and left without another word.
Nelson collapsed to his knees. Tears flowing down his face.
"Please God don't take her. I need my angel. Take me instead." Nelson begged.
Nelson stood at the car waiting for his son Manuel. Finally he came out and got in the car.
"Are you sure you don't want to come?" Nelson called to Reyna.
"No let this be just the boys." Reyna said holding the hand of her three year old son, Nelson JR.
"Love you. Nelson be good. Call me if anything happens." Nelson said and got in the car.
He pulled out of the driveway and smiled, remembering his own fishing trip with his father.
