Tears of Blood
Why does the silver wolf bare his fangs?
To protect his cubs
the sun, the moon and the star
from nightmares they live.
Why does the star shine?
The wolf's tears fall forth
yet the moon does not pay heed.
Her light stops his tears.
Why does the star shine?
The wolf droops his head
yet the sun does not notice.
She shines to lift him.
Where does the silver wolf rest his weary paws?
Under pink spring tree
where starlight turns his fur white
he sleeps peacefully.
Why does the silver wolf howl in silence?
The star has faded
never to shine down on him
never to pierce night.
Why does the silver wolf cry tears of blood?
Forever to mourn
he watches empty skies now.
His starlight is gone.
