I don't own Avatar the Last Airbender.

Sweat trickled down Toph Bei-Fong's brow as she waited for Twinkle Toes' feet to touch the ground. When they did, she quickly kicked three rocks up and over, knocking him to the ground and out of the ring.

"I win, again, Twinkle Toes," Toph boasted, walking around the young airbender that lay flat on the floor. "You know you really suck at this."

"Not all of us are earthbending masters," Aang replied, slowly rising to his feet. Toph smirked, her unseeing eyes studying him as he lifted from the ground and walk up the stairs where the earthbending master was waiting.

It was another typical earthbending lesson with Toph Bei Fong; for some reason, for the past week or two they had sparred. Neither of them knew why but Toph liked it. She hadn't fought with Twinkle Toes, or anyone for that matter, in a long time.

He reached her and stared at her. Her jet-black hair ran long past her shoulders; part of it was up and part was down. Her unseeing eyes were locked onto his gray ones. He smiled and winced a little.

They started heading toward the doors of the Earth Rumble Six's old arena. After the war, the Earth Rumble had gone large; they left the arena completely unattended. Toph had gladly volunteered to take care of it, and had done just that: there were broken bleachers and rocks everywhere.

"You're never gonna win," Toph teased, as they walked side by side to the stairs. "I'll beat you every time."

Aang smiled.

"I'm sure," he replied.

They walked to the edge of the arena. Toph glanced at him suspiciously. "Your heart's going a million miles an hour, Twinkle Toes," she said.

"I'm just tired," he replied.

They stopped.

Do it now, Aang.

"I think I know how to beat you," Aang said playfully.

Toph snorted replying, "How?"

Aang grabbed her arms, leaned in, and pressed his lips up against hers.

It was not expected to say the least. When it happened, Toph was so utterly mad but so excited, she just couldn't pull away. It really wasn't romantic either. Toph was happy for that. No stupid fairy tales for her first kiss, no way. It was … was …

She was falling.

What? How could she be falling?

She couldn't feel or see and didn't know what happened until she hit the ground. Two words followed: "I win!"

Twinkle Toes' voice rung from above her. He used me! She thought. Oh, I'll kill him now.

Instead, she hit the ground with her fist the sent a strong vibration up to the top of the arena and it sent Aang flying.

Toph made sure to move out of the way so he hit the ground. But even when he did he was still laughing. She laid her head across his chest.

"Cheater," she mumbled, just loud enough for him to hear.

"Sore loser," he replied, glancing at her.

She looked up at him and their eyes locked.

Toph felt Aang's heart skip a beat. She smiled. Then she leaned in and kissed him again. She sat up as their kiss became more passionate. He rested a palm on her cheek and she put one arm around his neck and her other hand on the ground.

They sat there a while their lips pressed up against each other.

Then, when they broke apart for air, Aang realized that suddenly he saw that he was under Toph's chin. In fact, he couldn't move.

Toph stood up and smirked. "I win," was all she said as she started to walk away. Aang realized she had parted the ground and squashed him in between the rock, all without him knowing.

He wasn't a very observant Avatar, to say the least.

"Toph!" he called after her. "Toph let me out! I didn't mean it! You win! You always win! Toph!?"

"Bye, Twinkle Toes," she said lifting a hand. "Maybe next time…"

She headed toward the door. "Toph!" he yelled.

The door shut.

"TOPH!"
