Chapter 1

Finally, school is out and summer begins for all the students of Asfret High. The long troublesome hours of homework are over and time for all the fun of summer to begin.

Herbutea was excited for another reason. She was about to go to high school as a freshman in the fall. This means that she can start a new life almost. Make a new image for herself and make her self known amongst all of the most popular seniors and guys of Asfret High. Maybe, she would become the first freshman that year to be invited to prom. As she is making her plans for the summer, she wonders over to her closet to decide what to wear for the day. She wanted something that would have all the guys turn every time she walked by. But at the same time she didn't want to be known as the school whore. She wanted to be that girl that every guy wants but knows that he can't have. She decides to go with just a tank top and shorts. Nothing fancy, but something a little revealing at the same time.
As she is going downstairs to go out and about she is stopped by her mother.

"Honey, isn't that a bit to reveal to go tramping around town in?" her mom said.

"Mom, it's what all the girls are wearing these days and besides its not like I am completely naked." She replied with frustration.

"It's not far from it." Her mom said under her breath.

Herbutea quickly runs out before her mom decides to chase the subject any further. As she is running down the road, out of the corner of her eye she sees a dark shape in the sky. However, whenever she turns to look at it, it disappears.

"What are you looking at?" says a voice.

She turns and sees her friend Vertubla standing next to her. "Oh, nothing. I thought that I saw something, but it was probably nothing." She replies.

"Whatever. Let's go. The others are waiting for us."

They turn and start heading down the road to an abandoned construction site. As they arrive, they see three other people standing there waiting impatiently.

"Sorry for the wait, Herbutea was daydreaming at the clouds again." Vertubla explains.

"It's not my fault. I could have sworn that I saw something up in the sky. But when I turned to look at it, it disappeared."

"Oh well, lets go."

As they start off heading for one of the buildings, they miss seeing a shadow that creeps out of the clouds and hovers over the tallest scaffold and lowers out a dark figure. The dark figure then descends down until it is on top of the building where the teenagers are. There it watches from a window on top of the building.
