Booth carefully carried two ice cold glasses of milk over to the table and smiled at four year old Christine who was kneeling in her chair, she was excited she was allowed to have cookies after dinner tonight. Cookies were a RARE treat in the Booth/ Brennan household, especially non organic store bought cookies. Booth sat down next to her and carefully opened the iconic blue package, he pulled out two of the chocolate sandwich cookies. "Christine, these are the best cookies, well besides mommy's Christmas cookies…There are three ways to eat an Oreo, you can just pick it up and eat it, you can carefully twist the top off and lick the crème out, or you can eat it my favorite way, dunk it in a glass of milk." Booth took one of the Oreos and dunked it in his glass of milk for a few seconds and bit into it. He handed Christine the other Oreo. "How are you going to eat your Oreo, Christine?"
"I'm gonna dunk it!"
"Good choice. Now, don't dunk it too long, if you do it'll get too soft and fall apart. Just get the cookie a little soft so you can still eat it without part of it falling in your milk. If it falls in your milk that's okay, just leave it in your glass and get another Oreo. When you're done dunking your Oreos you can drink the milk and eat the Oreos that fell in your glass…"
"K." Christine dunked her Oreo in her glass of milk, "daddy, it's making bubbles!'
Booth smiled and dunked another Oreo. "That means the Oreo is soaking up milk and getting soft, you probably need to stop dunking and eat it now."
Christine nodded and bit into the Oreo, "daddy, it's yummy!" Booth smiled and wiped milk off Christine's chin with a napkin. Unbeknownst to them Brennan stood in the doorway watching them with a smile. After watching for another few seconds Brennan went to the cabinet for the jar of peanut butter and walked to the table. "Daddy forgot one of the ways you can eat an Oreo. You can put peanut butter on top, this is my favorite way to eat an Oreo." She took the lid off the peanut butter and took an Oreo from the package, then slathered a thick layer of peanut butter on top before taking a bite.
"I've never had an Oreo with peanut butter on it, Bones… Do you think we should try it, Christine? "
"Uh huh. " Booth took two more Oreos from the package and smeared a somewhat thin layer of peanut butter on both before handing one to Christine. Christine and Booth took bites of their Oreos.
"What do you think, Christine?"
"I like it, but I like the dunk-y one better…"
"I agree with Christine, Bones…"
"Fine, more for me, but I think I'm going to get my own glass of milk and dunk some. I like them that way too." Brennan got up and got a glass of milk and joined Booth and Christine back at the table.
