Spring Musings

Disclaimer: I do not own Inuyasha that privilege goes to Rumiko Takahashi-san. I do not gain any money from the writing of this story. I only own the plotline.

Summary: A simple musing of a young woman during the spring.

Prologue

In a small, secluded glen, sits a young woman. The sounds of a small brook tinkling on her right and upon her left a cluster of vibrant blossoms of varying colors and scents. Taking a deep breath of clarifying air, said woman walks over to an old oak tree set off-center in the small glen. Her loose pants sliding against the grass and flowers, she moves quickly to the gnarled roots at the base of the tree and settles quietly and resumes her perusal of the area once more.

The young woman sighs softly, relaxing against the rough bark of the old tree. Closing her eyes she tries to fight off the tears of pain, anger, and emotional upheaval she feels. Upon her cheeks the tears fall like rivers. Soft sobs escape her as she tries to once again gather herself. The sun's light filtering through the leaves of the tree cast slight shadows upon her as she looks to the sky.

Her thoughts are swimming with that of her first love, a love that would not see her but her previous incarnation. Sighing softly she opens her striking azure eyes to the soft blue of the sky.

"Why can't he see me? What is so special about Kikyo?" Kagome sighs. She looks down to the hand she is running along the ground. Stopping at a small blue flower she picks it and begins to twirl it between her fingers.

"Why do I really care? I mean he is always running off to her, even when I am in a dangerous situation he is thinking of her. I don't think my heart can take any more of this abuse." Kagome looks up from the flower, sighing once again. I've been doing that quite often now, she thought. Slowly looking around, Kagome stretched out her senses to scan her surroundings. One can never be too sure, she thought bitterly.

Once she felt that she was completely alone she waited patiently, for what seemed like ages. Something was coming upon her she could feel it. Again stretching her senses outward she found it, the slight disturbance that she felt. A powerful aura was approaching her at a fast but steady pace. Kagome got to her feet, to face this person head on. She would stand tall against this approaching aura, not appearing weak or vulnerable in a sitting position.

~Somewhere in the forest~

He felt her presence in the forest for some time now. The fluctuations in her aura told him of the inner turmoil she was experiencing. Deciding enough was enough he began his trek to her location. The sun shone down upon his pure white attire. His look ethereal and angelic, despite the stoic mask upon his face. His golden gaze was far reaching as he traversed the distance quickly. He could almost see the edge of the small glen the small woman was in. He slowed his gait, staying in the shadows to observe her reactions to his approach.

A slight gasp left her rose colored lips and she recognized the being she felt approaching her. Of all Beings it had to be him.

"Sesshomaru" Kagome mumbled.
