I stepped out of my protective bunker. Fearing of the Zerg Hydralisks, I
ran to the Terran Military Base. Using swift and stealthy strides, I
shortened the run to about 3 minutes. When I got sight of the front gate
with its guard, I slowed down. I stopped promptly in front of the guard
and tiredly mumbled, "I need to talk to General Raynor." The guard
retorted, "Well, I haven't seen you in a while Soldier. I'll need to see
your identification card." I reached into the front pouch on my suit and
pulled out a dirty ID card which I silently handed to the guard. The guard
took the card and swiped it through the scanner adjacent t the gate's
doors. The scanner faltered first but accepted my identification. The
gate doors opened and the guard gave me my ID back. I replied in thanks,
"See you later." I stepped into the military base.
I stopped inside the gate to view the changed interior of the base. The defense hasn't changed with its turrets lining the walls. Along the walls were countless Barracks and Marine cabins. In the center lied a few Armories, a Factory and the Command Center. Many Marines were merely lingering around the base conversing with each other. I didn't recognize any of the men there. With that, I came to the realization that I had been stationed in the Bunker for so long without much communication with the outside world that my old friends were all gone. I had no idea how the new general, Raynor, acted around his troops. By rumor, I heard he was a reasonable war hero who even came into contact with the Protoss. While seemingly amazed by the view, I steadily walked toward the Command Center. At the door, a guard stopped me. He said promptly, "Do you have a meeting with General Raynor?" I strongly replied, "No, but I have pressing matters to reveal to the General." He boringly uttered, "Well, you can't get in without an appointment..." I said angrily, "I need to speak with Raynor, now!" A man walked out of the Command Center and asked, "What's the problem out here?" I said, "Well, I need to speak with..." but was interrupted by the guard when he said, "General Raynor, this man claims to need to speak with you but he has no appointment." Raynor laughed. He responded, "Well, just let him in soldier. Loosen up." I said, "Sir, it is an honor to speak with you and..." He stopped me. He said whole- heartedly, "You know, you aren't being tested soldier. There is no need for formalities. Be at ease." I remained silent as I walked into the building.
