Cam's Secret

A/N: For Cullen's Bullpen Challenge January.

Summary: CBPC Jan response. I think the title says it all.

Disclaimer: Still not mine.

Cam Saroyan slammed the door of her apartment and kicked off her shoes.

"Damn you Seeley Booth!" she yelled. "Damn you!" She jerked open her fridge door and grabbed a beer. Then she slammed it shut. "Why did you pick her over me? Why do you always pick her over me?" She had tears streaming down her face. Cam opened her beer, flopped on her couch, but didn't drink. She cried and thought about what had happened earlier that day.

--Flashback--

"Cam!" Booth called. "Hey, Cam!" Cam turned to face him.

"So, I'll take it that it's no longer open season on Brennans?" she said coldly. Booth started to speak. "Don't think that I'm blind Seeley. I saw exactly what happened. And I'm not stupid either."

"Cam, listen to me. What you saw, was me trying to comfort a friend," explained Booth, but Cam interrupted him.

"A friend?" she laughed. "Is that it? Men don't lift just any woman's chin with their finger Seeley. You've never done it to me, why should you do it to your 'friend'?"

"Bones never had the privilege of belonging to a normal family. I was just telling her that there's more than one kind of family."

"Yeah, and the other kind is with you and Parker, isn't it?" said Cam sarcastically.

"Cam…" Booth started.

"Don't say it," Cam snapped. "Don't even think about saying it! You'll always choose her over me! Always and forever! Now, why don't you go tell your precious 'Bones', as you call her, now you're free from relationships, how about dinner?"

"Cam, don't be irrational," said Booth.

"I'm irrational?" she cried. "I'm supposed to be your girlfriend! We're supposed to be in a relationship!"

"And we're NOT supposed to be together." Cam's mouth dropped open. "I'll see you around Camille."

--End Flashback--

Cam dropped the last of her beer into her mouth and wiped the tears from her face. She set her bottle on the coffee table and sat up. She slipped on her fluffy slippers and padded into her bedroom. She opened her closet and took out a small cardboard box. She sat down on her bed and pulled the lid off. She reached in with her right hand, but her cell phone rang. She sighed and flipped it open.

"Saroyan," she said.

"Cam?" was the answer she heard. "It's Angela."

"Angela, how are you?" asked Cam, while pulling tissue paper out of the box.

"I'm fine, but I wanted to know how you were." Cam was silent. "The whole Jeffersonian heard you."

"I'll be fine." She reached into the box and pulled out a smaller, highly decorated box, and opened it. A soft song floated out of the box as a miniature ballerina danced around in circles.

"Hey, what's that?" asked Angela. Cam read the inscription on it.

"Something I look at when I'm feeling sad," she answered. "It's my only childhood memory." She smiled a rare smile that no one had ever seen. "It plays 'My Favourite Things', from The Sound of Music. It's the only song that cheers me up."

"Wow," said Angela. "It's your only memory?"

"It's my mother's music box," replied Cam. "She used to sing it to me, with a voice of serenity. My only childhood memory."
