Didn't get there in time

Muriel was cackling happily. The other witches assembled under the blood moon were cheering their leader and taunting at the captured siblings and traitorous troll Edward. The sacrifice had been completed and the witches were now immune to fire and most other things that could harm them. Muriel raised her arms and the assembly of witches silenced. She waved forward Hansel. Tall Witch led him forward pulling viciously on his chain. She forced him down onto the bloodied slab now sticky with children's blood. Muriel came forward her witch's face a more human look at the moment. "You didn't get here on time Hansel. You foolish boy. Now with your sister dead what can you honestly do?" she asked cheerfully. Hansel struggled against his bindings. He had seen that bitch drive her ceremonial dagger into Gretel's chest extracting her heart. The Heart of a Grand White Witch. Muriel smiled at Hansel's feeble attempts to escape. She had even killed Ben that boy foolish enough to follow along with the hunters. He would have done better to stay out of a witch's business.

Edward was bellowing and struggling to get free. He had heared Gretel's dying breath ask him to save the others. And he had tried. Oh, how he had tried. Muriel turned to speak to the assembled witches who were looking at her appreciatively. Indeed she had helped them all. "My sisters! Long have we been burned on pyres, drowned, and other misfortunes had befallen us. No longer are we subject to torment. WE. ARE. FOREVER!" The other witches erupted in cheers. They cheered as Muriel drove her dagger into the chest of Hansel and watched his life blood seep from his body onto the ground. They had even cheered when Edward was burned to a crisp then beheaded. "Let us go forth and show those damned humans what true fear really is! Let us leave my sisters!" Muriel cackled laughing. She flew off and the other witches followed suit attacking nearby villages and causing the guard dogs to turn against master tearing them to pieces as she had made the other dogs do to that small party the sherrif had sent after her.

No one dared dispute her power. The witches even though they had went back to their own territories had decided to become one giant coven. People had gone to regular sacrifice to appease Muriel and to guarantee that she would leave them alone for the time being. Muriel had indeed become what she had aspired to be her whole life. The ultimate witch. Whose power is undisputed to this very day.
