Disclaimer: If I owned Merlin, you would know. Trust me. But, unfortunately for me and you guys, BBC owns Merlin. We can wish though, right?!

A/N: Here's a small one shot about a conversation between Merlin and Arthur if Arthur already knew about Merlin's 'gift'. Have fun and enjoy…I might make a sequel. Who knows…?

"If you're telling me that you've been using magic this whole time, why are you such a…such an idiot?!" Arthur stressed, turning to the younger boy in bewilderment.

"You wouldn't understand," Merlin fought back, rubbing his forehead while staring down at his worn leather boots. He could feel the other's breath rushing towards him on the surface of his skin.

"Try me."

"Fine! Alright! You-you have a title, a sword. You live by what you have presented to you. You speak above all because you're a prince and royalty. You act brave and strong because you know that you can wield a sword and succeed. I-I on the other hand…I only have magic," he took a breath from his rant, looking up through his eyelashes at the other who looked down in thought, "When I-when I use magic, I feel…I feel like I'm in control. I feel so much lighter and conscious to what I am. But when I have to hide…I feel so out of place. I feel like I'm being led down a dark, narrow cave and I don't know what around me at all. And in order to keep going, I have to act; I have to force myself out into the open and push forward through the darkness, not even knowing what's in front of me. With magic, I can see my way through the darkness; I know what out there and I know how to find my way out of the cave…I can escape."

Arthur glanced back at his manservant, noticing that the boy was clenching his fist in displeasure and concern. He looked up at Merlin's eyes, blue and deep but clouded with a constrained sadness, yet defiant.

"You're an idiot." Arthur smirked as the other looked up in surprise, a large grin forming on his face.

"And you're such a prat!" Merlin chuckled as the prince reached over and cuffed him along side the head.
