Upon walking home from school, Selphie merrily strode aside her best friend, Kairi. Things lately, she had to admit, were odd. But, nothing quite soothed the suspicious thoughts better than a nice day after school. Even if Kairi was acting very....strange.
It had been ever since that day that she sent a message in a bottle to that boy....Sora was his name if she remembered correctly. But the funny thing was.....Selphie couldn't remember a single thing about Sora even though Kairi swears that she knew him. She remembered Riku perfectly...but she had no clue who the devil "Sora" was. It was one of those times she was convinced that her friend might've been off her chain.
Like that very day in class: Kairi fell asleep during a boring lecture on Babylon and Selphie could hear her murmur the strangest things. They were very disturbing things. Things that made Selphie gag upon hearing. But only in pure jealously.
"Sora...."
"Come back, Sora..."
"I miss you..I need you.."
"So bad...I need you so badly..."
"Riku's no you...."
"I...love you.."
Selphie would just bite her lip as hard as she could until blood began to be shed. Why was Kairi so obsessed with this imaginary boy? He was a fake. At least she was real...
"Selph..". The spunky girl quickly glanced over at her sullen friend. "Yeah, Kai? What is it?". Kairi bowed her head as she asked, "Do...do you think he'll ever come back?".
Even though she knew exactly who Kairi was talking about, Selphie still asked, "Who?". Kairi looked at the girl. "You know....Sora. Do you think he'll ever come back?". Selphie sighed.
"Kairi....Sora isn't real! He's only a figment of your imagination!". Kairi's eyes birthed very real tears, eyes exploding with passion. "NO HE ISN'T! He's real, I just know it! And one day, I'm going to find him and we're gonna be together....forever....I-I need him...". Selphie's eyes watered.
"I'm never going to love anybody else, Selphie. I love him. I NEED him. You may think he isn't real, but these dreams....these memories....they're just too real....I know he's out there somewhere and I'll never stop looking until I find him. Nobody will ever have my heart besides him...". Selphie shook her head in disbelief. Kairi said that she would NEVER love anybody else other than him. Sora...the imaginary boy.
So.....my love doesn't mean a thing to you? But Kai.....I'm real, I'm here!! I'm the one that loves you....not some made up boy........I'm better than him.....But you'd rather have a piece of mind imagery rather than me......Don't speak, Selph....just...just don't. It won't mean a thing to her, anyway.....I'll never mean a thing to her...
Selphie couldn't say a word. She absolutely refused to ever let Kairi know how she felt. So instead, she just broke into loud, hysterically cries. But, of course, Kairi was too wrapped up in her thoughts about him to even notice her friend's frantic condition.
