-------

Edward watched as Nina played with Alphonse, they were currently outside and Alphonse and Nina were running around chasing Alexander, while Edward sat on the porch watching the events that played in front of him. Alexander would bark happily if Nina caught him. The giant white dog that had a habit to tackle Edward to the ground when he was least expecting it. Nina's brown plaits were bouncing with the rhythm of her running feet. Edward smiled. Nina was such a sweet young girl; she was always polite and always wanting to play with Alphonse or him. Her blue eyes would sparkle with excitement when they did alchemy for her or they would sparkle with laughter and child innocence when Alexander would tackle him to the ground into the deep, cold snow. She would giggle if Alphonse picked her up and threw her gently into the air and then catch her. Edward would watch when Alphonse did this as he would imagine that it was him doing that with Alphonse. It would bring back memories of their childhood and he was happy remembering these events as they were happy memories, not bad ones, not ones that were filled with nightmares. He shook his head, not thinking of that night. Nina came running up to him. Her face was pink from the cold and her hair wet and with bits of white solid snow sticking to her face.

"Littler Big Brother, Littler Big Brother, guess what!?" her cute adorable voice rang in his ears.

He knelt down so he was eye level with her. With a huge smile on his face he proclaimed "What!?" Nina giggled at the tone of his voice.

"Bigger Big Brother made a snow angel!! Come see Littler Big Brother!!"

Edward laughed, a true laugh, Nina giggled with him. Edward picked her up and swung her on his shoulders.

"Well I better see this snow angel or the snow devils will get it!"

Nina's blue eyes widened with horror. "Hurry Littler Big Brother!! Hurry!!"

Edward chuckled lightly, but picked his pace up none the less. Alphonse waved as they got closer. Nina tugged at Edward's red coat, urging him to go faster so the 'Snow Devils' wouldn't get the snow angel.

"So, Al where is your snow angel?"

Alphonse shuffled shyly. He pointed to the outline in the ground; it looked like a spiked bird with a long chunky body. Edward laughed. Nina giggled and soon Alphonse was laughing alongside them. Placing Nina down Edward lied down and began making his own snow angel, soon Nina joined in. They all began making multiple snow angels and laughing the whole time at how some came out as 'Snow Devils' and others came out like people. They stopped after a while and just laid in the snow, enjoying each others company. A peaceful silence wrapped itself around them. That was until Nina broke it.

"Big Brothers, you'll neber leab me will you? You'll stay and play, wright?"

Her big blue eyes stared at Edward's golden ones. Alphonse patted her gently on the arm, Edward smiled at her.

"We will never leave you Nina" Alphonse nodded with agreement.

"Pwomise" Her lips in a small pout.

"Promise" Alphonse nodded again and Edward hugged her close.

Edward stared at the wall that had a large splatter of blood on it, it looked like an angel, yet Edward knew if he looked properly he would see a small girl and a large dog, but he didn't want to see that. He wanted to see the angel, he wanted to remember that day they made all the snow angels and devils. He didn't want to realise that Nina would never play with them ever again. Edward slammed his fist on the bloody wall, tears streamed down his pale face, he didn't move to wipe them away. He didn't care; the only thing he cared about was that he had broken his promise.

"I'm so sorry Nina"

End.
