Author's note: So this is a pretty pathetic one-shot that was inspired by lots of different things, one of them being a recent episode I watched on Voyager. So yeah, R&R please!
"No." Garak stated bluntly.
Julian was cofused. Why? Why didn't Garak want to go with him to the holodeck?
"Why, Garak?" he questioned.
"There is no 'why', my dear doctor. I just simply do not wish to go." Garak responded with his usual calmness.
"Garak, tell me. Please. I want to know." Julian begged. He even added a glance towards Garak with his big, brown eyes. He knew the older Cardassian couldn't resist his big babies.
Garak shrugged, smiled, and headed to the Promenade. They would have to discuss the matter over lunch.
"So you're telling me that the reason you don't want to go to the holodeck with me is because you're afraid of holograms?" Julian asked, somewhat suspicious. He didn't know if Garak was telling the truth or not.
Garak nodded his head.
"Alright, so you're afraid of all holograms?"
"Yes. They just…don't seem to be natural." Garak responded.
"They're not natural, Garak. That would explain why you think they aren't." Julian said.
They continued eating their meal together, silently. Suddenly, Julian had an idea on how to test Garak to see if he was telling the truth.
"Garak, I need your assistance in the Infirmary once we are finished. I'm trying to get a new system online, but it isn't working correctly. Would you help me?"
Garak's mouth was full of food, so he just nodded and continued chewing.
The two gentlemen made their way to the Infirmary. Julian showed Garak where he was working, and what he was working on.
"Garak, I think if you just hit these seven buttons, it should bring the system online."
"I agree. Bringing the system online now."
A few clicks and a few beeps, and a couple of seconds waiting, and the new system popped online in no time.
"Please state the nature of the medical emergency." The EMH said.
Garak looked at Julian, not knowing what to say.
"Who is this, dear doctor?"
Julian smiled. "This is the Emergency Medical Hologram. He's going to be here for quite some time, as I want to keep him as a friend, and a co-worker."
"The Medical Hologram is not suppose to stay online for more than 14 hours at a time."
Garak looked at the hologram with severe irritation.
"The Medical Hologram is programmed with more tha 200 different doctor's information and studies. The Medical Hologram was designed by Lewis Zimmerman."
"The Medical Hologram is about to shut up. Goodbye, doctor." Garak said. With that, he pressed a few controls, and the hologram disappeared.
"Doctor, if this was some kind of trick to see if I was telling you the truth, it worked. I wasn't afraid of holograms…until now."
Julian just laughed, and escorted Garak to his James Bond holoprogram.
