Tanya paused as she stepped out of the shower to close her eyes and enjoy the last few droplets of water roll down her back,
"mmmmmm," she thought.
Her moment of bliss was short-lived. Breeanna came slamming through the front door bringing in just enough cool Alaskan draft to prematurely turn the remaining droplets of water into solid ice on the small of her back.
"Humph," she grumbled.
She shook her hair so quickly that it returned to its usual deep brown color she wrapped her stone body in a fluffy towel and jogged down the 60's esque staircase that ran straight through their log cabin. Breeanna's deep onyx eyes flashed and Tanya knew the whole story. A low frustrated growl built up in Bree's chest. Savanna sauntered in smugly through the plain wood door, her eyes a pure gold.
"Got 'em," she smiled.
Bree rolled her eyes in Savannah's direction. "Only because I let you,"
From the corner Emilie burst out in giggles then quickly recomposed herself when Bree threw a daring glance and a snarl towards Emilie's corner. Bree whisked off dramatically to her room.
"So you nagged the grizzly then huh?" Tanya asked Savanna.
"Yup, and boy was it good." Savannah replied happily rubbing her stomach.
Just then a blur with a blonde ribbon trailing after it came barreling at Savannah. Not two seconds later were Bree and Savannah rolling on the floor in the next room with laughter.
"You're…a terrible…tracker!" Savanna said between fits of laughter.
"I know!" Bree gasped back.
Tanya sighed and skipped back upstairs to change. After she slid into her jammies (though she'd never slept a wink in the past 204 years) she sat on her bed and stared blankly at the wall. She thought of her family downstairs. Emilie, So quiet and knowing. Bree who was so fun and playful. Savannah, her brilliant mind and lovably pompous attitude could get her anything she wanted. And then there was Tanya. What did she have to bring to the group? Her desperate pain had left her unique power untouched for four months. Without warning, Tanya felt Emilie's arms wrap around her in a loving embrace.
They sat there for some time until Emilie said, "Are you feeling any better?" Even though she already knew the answer.
"I dunno'. You tell me," Tanya replied in a voice a little harder than she intended. "I'd actually like to know," she said a titch bit softer.
"Okay, lie down and try to relax," Emilie instructed. "You know the drill."
Tanya did as she was told and tried to clear her mind of her many jumbling thoughts. Emile placed a cool hand just below Tanya's neck on her upper chest and closed her eyes.
"Mmmm, I see," Em murmured.
This was the part Tanya disliked the most. She felt so exposed. Tanya was a private person and letting another know her innermost feelings was not on the top of her to-do list, even if it was her sister.
"Well, you seem to be withholding something from yourself. I'm not sure what it is…but it's pretty substantial. But you don't feel as…what's the word? Lost as you did last week." Emilie's eyes opened and Tanya sat up. "But you don't need me to see that."
"What do you think I'm "'withholding'"? Tanya pondered in Em's general direction.
"I'm not sure Tanya. But a change is definitely coming."
