It smelled good. Tohru's food always smelled good, but today's was especially nice. Fish…

I slumped as I remembered that I was supposed to go to Shishou's tonight. I sighed and grabbed my scarf and jacket. It had been colder than usual this year.

I absent mindedly wondered where Yuki and Shigure were. I rolled my eyes as I remembered.

Yuki was at Kakeru's. Some student council stuff I guess. Shigure was most likely in his little office, bundled up with a blanket, cup of tea and a newspaper.

I heard small footsteps in the hall. Tohru. Was she searching for me? I didn't allow myself to hope.

"Kyo-kun? I was looking for you!" she called as I came into her view. I couldn't help it. I hoped. "What would you like on your-ah!" I felt rude as I cut her off with my hand.

"Tohru, I'm going to be at Shishou's for dinner. Be sure to cook less," I said, passing her in the hall. She stopped.

"Ah, but…Kyo-kun! You haven't been eating here as much, lately. Are you feeling alright?"

Her small hand lightly brushed my hair off my forehead and she checked for a temperature. All I had to do was take a small step to my left and she could fall on me. If only for a second, I could feel her body on mine, not as a cat…

"You feel normal, but if you feel ill in anyway, stay the night, okay? Colds can be very dangerous."

I studied her face until she started to blush. I hoped that it was me who caused that lovely color to rise on her cheeks. I hoped it was my presence, so close to her…

"Tohhrrruuu! Can you come here please? I'm afraid I need your help…" Shigure called from another room.

The bastard. He knew that I was with her. Tohru seemed torn for a minute, and I thrived in that moment. She bowed to me swiftly.

"Sumimasen, Kyo-kun. Shigure-san requires my assistance and you don't want to be late. Please be careful. I don't want you to be sick," she murmured to the floor.

She started down the hall when I reached for her arm. So soft and frail…

"Stop worrying about me, okay? I'm not that weak."

She blushed and nodded. I released her and she hurried to Shigure. I could hear him from out here. He was overly loud; I was immediately suspicious. I was sure to slam the door shut before sneaking around to his window.

"Is he gone?" Shigure asked. I assumed that Tohru nodded because he spoke again.

"Good. Now please, I would like to discuss something important with you."

I leaned in, trying to hear better.

"Tohru, would you consider…how should I put it…erm…would you consider giving Kyo a…a…child?"
