She never thought the door to a dark lighthouse could look so inviting.

Just as this thought went through her mind, however, Elizabeth thought of how she had spent her entire life locked behind doors. The idea of putting herself into another dark tower should have been unbearable, but anywhere was better than here. Any universe was better than the one she had been raised in, the one she and her father had destroyed. Her father, Booker, who was also Comstock, and a million other people in a million other universes.

She had to get away.

As Elizabeth stepped into the lighthouse she felt a coldness surround her and then she was somewhere completely different. There was no sign of the lighthouse or Colombia, but instead a bustling city. The coldness she felt when she had stepped through the lighthouse door was still there, but everywhere she looked was bathed in a greenish light and light seemed to travel differently. As she looked around her Elizabeth realized she was no long in the clouds of Colombia, but instead somewhere much different. The entire city was underwater, and all at once it felt vaguely familiar to her. As she began to walk forward she saw a huge building that connected across several blocks and contained a coffee shop at the opposite end from her. As Elizabeth entered the building, she looked out the windows and saw the ocean beyond them.

She realized why this place was so familiar - this is where she drowned Songbird. She watched his eyes go from red to green to black on the other side of a window pane just like the one she was looking through now. She forced herself to move away from the window and continue down the building and towards the coffee shop. She had to clear her head. No matter how many powers she had just gained, no matter how much she could control and see, she was still just a girl who had lost everything. As she walked down a hall that seemed to last miles, Elizabeth's confusion and slight sadness started to turn to anger. She began to remember how much she had been lied to and betrayed. Just as she felt as though her feelings would overwhelm her, she arrived at the coffee shop.

She walked inside and sat down at a table alone, ordering absentmindedly. She should be in Paris. If the world were fair and dreams were granted to those who deserved them the most, she would be drinking this coffee in Paris. Instead she was in Rapture, a city leagues beneath the ocean, a whole new universe in her hands, and no idea what to do with it. As Elizabeth sat at her table and turned all these things over in her mind, she faintly registered someone trying to talk to her. As she went to dismiss it as overhearing someone else's conversation, she heard it again, a man's voice, clearly spoken in her direction.

"Excuse me, miss? Are you alright?"

It was then that Elizabeth noticed how hard she was gripping her coffee mug, and that she was shaking slightly.

"Oh, yes, yes I'm okay," she said, making a point to relax. The man got up from his table and sat down at hers without asking. He smiled slightly and introduced himself as Jack. Elizabeth introduced herself as well.

After a few minutes of small talk, Jack finally asked, "So, what's your story? And what's the thimble, if you don't mind me asking". Elizabeth looked down at her lap and replied, "It's a long story". Jack leaned forward on the table, smiling slightly again, and replied,

"I've got time".
