It was an odd thing that had brought them together - their mutual attraction to Grissom. Sara had liked Grissom for years, and Greg had developed a crush on the man from the first time he'd met him.
Though both of them were hopeful for Grissom's attention, they became friends. They would confide in one another about things neither them had ever shared. They were close.
When it became clear that their hopes in Grissom were misplaced, they turned to each other. They were thankful for the comfort and glad that they each had someone who understood. Having your heart broken by a brilliant, workaholic, bug-loving CSI wasn't exactly something most people could relate to. They had needed each other.
When they first kissed, it had been an ordinary day. They were discussing a case and eating breakfast, no two things any more regular. It was surprising at first, but then they both realized that it was obvious. Happiness had been right under their noses all this time they'd been looking into the distance.
Grissom was perplexed when they both thanked him the next day.
They just smiled innocently.
