Fleur had never felt more unwanted.
Bill's family hated her and they thought that she had bewitched him. She was always asking herself why they couldn't see that she loved Bill more than anything in the world.
She was desperate to prove to them that she wasn't just a pretty face. So when Molly, Bill's mother, asked Ginny, his sister, to feed the chickens, Fleur immediately said that she would do it.
Not wanting to miss it, Molly and Ginny had snuck outside under the cover of putting the washing out, to spy on her.
The chickens were awfully fat, Fleur did not see why they needed feeding, but she got on with it anyway.
Holding the feed in her hand, she bent down and held her hand out. The animals immediately started to peck at her hand.
She stumbled back a bit and heard the two women watching giggle. Holding her head high, she grabbed more food and held her hand out.
What she didn't notice was that there was a chicken behind her desperate for food. Mistaking her bare leg for its feed, it started to peck, rather hard.
Fleur yelped out in pain and heard the women watching burst into laughter. She grabbed her leg and stood up, no matter how much it hurt. Looking down she saw it was bleeding rather heavily.
The laughter suddenly stopped and Fleur thought for a minute that they might actually feel guilty. But when she was swooped into strong, familiar arms she knew that they weren't guilty at all. In fact, quite the opposite, they had only stopped because Bill was there.
Turning her head into his chest, she let her tears fall, knowing that Bill wouldn't care.
"Oh darling…" Bill kisses her hair and Fleur immediately feels better. She giggles threw her tears when he picks her up. "Let me take a look at that."
He walked into the kitchen and set her down on the table.
"Doesn't look too bad." He healed it with his wand and then kissed the spot. He picked her up again and Fleur wrapped her legs around his torso for balance. "Now all you need is some love."
And with that, he crashed his lips onto hers and Fleur knew in that moment that she didn't need to prove herself. She had Bill and that's all that mattered.
