Part six to my Holiday Hazards series.
Rudimentary
So basically Kisling was interested in anything involving ghosts. Now that they had some free time on their hands, he was rewarded with an opportunity to study Big Bull and Epros, who were both ghosts. Not only were they interesting, but Linda, being from the Devildom, was also just as engaging.
Kisling frowned to himself. Unfortunately, Evil King Stan wouldn't let him run tests on him, so he had to skip out on that interesting tidbit.
Oh well.
Big Bull was frowning slightly, looking nervous.
"C'mon Doc, is this really necessary?"
"On that note I quite agree. I agree whole heartedly!"
"I really have better things to do…"
Kisling waved away their complaints. "Calm down, you three. I promise this won't take long! Just some temperature tests, some DNA tests, some blood tests-"
"EEK!"
Linda bolted from the room. Strangely, Epros whirled around and looked like he was going to follow her, but with an effort he faced Kisling again.
Big Bull huffed as Kisling began running tests on him. "Doc, I think I hear the Don calling. Can't keep her waiting."
"Yes yes, I know. The Princess can wait." Kisling said busily in reply.
Epros rolled his eyes before floating out of the room.
The "short" tests took an hour and a half, by which around this time Big Bull had had enough. He was contemplating on whether or not to strangle the over eccentric scholar when Marlene came in.
She gasped, and then placed a hand on her hip, her favorite pose that clearly said, "I'm boss around here."
"Kisling, just what do you think you're doing?"
The Scholar grinned, spreading his arms. "I'm experimenting on Big Bull. His blood tests and DNA are really interesting, if I may say so myself! Compared to a human's, his DNA is extremely versatile, and-"
Marlene waved her hand. "Enough please."
"But, Princess, surely you can appreciate the details in this experiment! If ghost DNA can be interbred with human, why-"
Rosalyn had just appeared, and she had caught that last line.
"Ghost DNA interbred with human?" She shuddered violently.
Stan's laughter could be heard from out of the room.
For some reason Rosalyn turned red and stomped out to yell at the Evil King. Marlene grabbed Ari, who had just been trying to sneak past her, and she shoved him into the room.
"Go release Big Bull and stop Kisling from experimenting on him."
Big Bull heaved a sigh of relief. "Thanks, Don."
Marlene huffed. "And then, Ari, I'd like some tea." She smiled then, and Ari laughed before turning around and shrugging at Big Bull.
"You're free to go, I guess."
The Bull wasted no time, he ran at the speed only he could run at, there one second, gone the next. A resulting crash down the hall unleashed a torrent of abuse from Stan, and a barrage of laughter from Rosalyn.
Ari looked at Kisling and smiled slightly.
"You better listen; I don't think Marlene is interested in ghost experiments."
Kisling lifted his head and walked out, trying to maintain some dignity.
"Very well, I'll go talk to someone who is! Perhaps your father."
"You do that."
Ari headed into the living room, and sat next to Marlene. They both watched Stan blasting bolts of lightning at Big Bull, who had tripped and become entangled with Linda and Epros. Rosalyn was laughing so hard she was crying.
"I'm going to miss them when they leave." Ari said fondly.
Marlene nodded. "I will also miss them."
Ari was forced into action, dragging Marlene to the side with them, as Stan destroyed the couch.
"What gives you the impression they're leaving? These morons are actually some of the best minions an Evil King can find! You will all serve moi, Evil King-"
"Stan!" They all shouted, pointing to the fire.
"It's rudimentary, actually. It's a fire, doesn't it need water?" Kisling mused.
Ari laughed, helping Marlene to her feet.
"Definitely going to miss them."
