Lucas Friar knew 2 things to be true

Lucas was a simple boy, not simple minded but not high maintenance. He always knew what the right thing to do was and never passed an oppurtunity to do it. He was a good boy. He liked to watch the news during breakfast and this particular morning the news was this:

Beck Oliver 20 year old former resident in Hollywood, Los Angeles. Is making loud and disruptive protest against train/ subway safety and security. Oliver's Satated reason for doing so is this, 4 months ago A violent robbery occured claiming the life of his girlfriend Jade West. Ared thugs threw the girl through the train car window and onto the railings where another train passed shortly after. Beck Oliver has said he "would be seeking out the cruel individual who did that to his girfriend if it weren't for the fact he was
1. already arrested
and 2. the train windows were regulation and safety approved.
"windows of trains and subways are required to be bulletproof and practically unbreakable. if she hadn't have gone through that window she would have been alive today."
Lucas shut the news off. the chances of him being on one of those trains was 1 in a billion, besides doesn't seem like they're actuallly hurting anyone.
He took the subway to school despite the warning, he was so nervous. to kill time on the long train ride he decided to get ahead on his history reading. Just as he pulled out his book and opened the first page he heard an familiar sound. A loud BANG! It startled him, but he didn't think much of it until he saw a man in a black hoodie and jeans with sunglasses and a bandana covering his face that he realized what the sound was. BANG! One of the hooded men aimed his 9mil at one of the glass windows BANG the glass shattered. Lucas Didn't know what to do. The Most dangerous thing he had come accross so far in New York was bullies, never an armed criminal! The man's voice boomed through the subway cart,"I Don't want your money, I'm not here to harm anyone. I am here as a public service, to let these STUPID train inspectors now how badly they do! my name is Beck Oliver" he said taking off his glasses and lowering his bandana, "and I Hate ignorant inspectors who assume nothing bad will happen enough that they don't even inspect properly. spread the word, inspectors are corrupt, subway companies are corrupt and manufacturers are pathetic." Beck Oliver got off the train at the next station and walked away. the train car was silent, until a lady in a Mc Donalds uniform stood up and shouted " HE'S RIGHT! We should do something!" "DO IT ON YOUR OWN TIME" a man in a suit screamed back. The train arrived at Lucas' stop in Manhattan. He walked to school in silence, sat down in silence and stayed that way the rest of the day, ignoring questions from his friends about what was wrong or why he wasn't his normal bubbly self. He would tell them later, maybe.
