He was clearly gay. There wasn't a single doubt in her (or anyone else's) mind about that.

Despite it, Nanami felt that she was on the border of loving Otohiko, the Wind God. Her feelings for Tomoe hadn't changed; she loved him very, very much and her heart did all kinds of dances for him and the blood vessels on her face were given a vigorous work out each and every day and moment in the fox guardian's presence. Otohiko… well, he was himself.

He was selfish and flighty and insulting and egotistic and gay… and despite himself (and his awful intentions, usually) he always ended up taking the time to care for her. As he tested her ability to see through deception (which according to him, she failed), he still devotedly taught her all nine movements of the Kagura dance. Despite his preference for Kayako in general and his equally general dislike for Nanami, he still (somewhat) interfered in their "exam" in order to help her grow her shikigami and spiritual powers. Even while insisting that he was "only a guide!" he still remained and helped her when her enemies at the gate to Yomi no Kuni were too strong.

Despite being selfish and flighty and insulting and egotistic (gay aside, because honestly, did it even matter anymore?) Otohikogami was very good at caring for the human tochigami Momozono Nanami.

At this very moment, he was berating her for the weakness of her tsuuriki (and while he was at it, insulting her for the lack of parishioners), and listing a rather extensive array of ways to improve it. "You're a tochigami for crying out loud, so stop with your weak 'human girl' act! If you worked on any of these things, it'd be a snap to improve your capacity and strength of tsuuriki, and yet every single day you waste your time and energy on those pathetic little charms!"

Nanami, despite his sour words, wrote everything he mentioned down in her notebook, and numbered the top 5 she thought she could handle. "But Tomoe never told me about these! He just said 'the more you use them, the more they'll grow' and kinda left me with it. Thanks for the advice!"

He spluttered, stared, and pouted. He was supposed to be insulting her to the point of tears, and dammit if she wasn't thanking him for it.

"I think you've taken a few too many of Tomoe-kun's abuses, girly. You're starting to appreciate them."

Author's Note: A snippet I wrote for shits and giggles that's been hanging about in my folders. Rather than attempt to expand, I simply decided to appreciate it as it was. Opinions and critiques appreciated as always, darlings. Also, for those who would like to make a bitch about my rough treatment of the term "gay" in this piece: I hold nothing against the LBGT community, I'm simply stepping into the mindset of a young woman who is obviously frustrated with herself for being somewhat enamored with a man who falls into that category, amongst all the other traits listed. Please refrain from sowing acid here.
