Note: slightly introspective piece on Kai and his teammates. Set after BEGA Justice Five tournament and before the final battle between Kai and Tyson at the end.
Joke
by: zulka
.
Every once in a while, he'll hear it, and he's come to realize that it's a joke. It's a joke that is shared between Kinomiya, Kyoujyo, Rei, Max, Daichi and Hiromi. He's not sure what it means. He's not sure if he wants to know either.
He realizes that this probably took place between his leaving the second time, and the Justice Five tournament.
He has never been one to feel 'left out', per say, and more often than not he could care less. But there is something about this group of people that makes him want to know. Kinomiya and the rest, they joke a lot, play and are usually immature.
He knows the joke is embarrassing, he has deduced that from having seen Hiromi turn bright red and glare at who ever calls her 'stardash'. He knows the joke revolves around this word. But what he doesn't know is the meaning, the significance behind the word. It eludes him.
While it is funny to the rest of the guys, it is not funny at all to Hiromi. Kinomiya and Daichi are the ones that tease her the most, and as a result get hit most often than not.
Stardash
He wonders why he cares. It is after all just a word. But this word carries meaning, significance and he realizes for the first time that he's not part of it. That's why it bothers him. For all the times the guys have acted childish, though he has never joined in, he at least knows. Just by knowing, he is part of it.
This time his ignorance of the meaning of 'stardash' sets him apart whenever he's with them and they mention it.
But pride keeps him from asking. So he'll just sit there and pretend like he doesn't care. He keeps telling himself that it's just a word.
Author's note: I'm using the Japanese names. In the original, Kai always refers to Takao as Kinomiya. Kyoujyo is Kenny. Please review, I love to hear your thoughts. Thanks for reading.
