Kirk hated them. He hated the agents that separated him from his research. At least, he thought he did. Over the last few months, one of the agents, Regina, would visit him for information about the Third Energy. And throughout those months, Edward began to feel something about the redhead. Those feelings were romantic. He tried his best to deny the existence of those feelings, knowing she probably wouldn't love him, but to no avail.

You're the closest to heaven that I'll ever be

And I don't wanna go home right now

Recently, Edward started to talk to Regina about life, friends, and family. These conversations were always brief and were held after Regina got the information she needed. When she left, Edward always felt a little empty inside.

And all I can taste is this moment

And all I can breathe is your life

When sooner or later it's over

I just don't wanna miss you tonight

"Stop falling in love with her!" Kirk would frequently tell himself. "She is a GOVERNMENT AGENT. It would seem strange to others anyway." But no matter how many times he would tell himself this, he would still be in love with her. And he wanted to know if she loved him. If it was possible for her to love him.

And I don't want the world to see me

'Cause I don't think that they'd understand

When everything's made to be broken

I just want you to know who I am

Things came to a head one day at the end of one of their meetings. As Regina was about to leave, Edward suddenly grabbed her by the wrist and pulled her in for a kiss. During the kiss, he was more than certain that she returned it. When it was over, Regina put a hand over her mouth out of shock over what they just did. Kirk was equally surprised.

"What was that for?" The redhead finally asked.

"I don't know. It meant nothing." Edward answered, though it did mean something. "Just forget it happened and get out!" And with that Regina left, shaking her head. Edward looked down at the ground. "Idiot." He thought to himself. "That was your chance!"

And you can't fight the tears that ain't coming

Or the moment of truth in your lies

When everything feels like the movies

Yeah, you bleed just to know you're alive

Later, when she got home, Regina contemplated what had happened during her visit, What Kirk had said to her before she left. She couldn't just forget that they had kissed. She couldn't just forget that Edward Kirk, the man who made an attempt on her life back on Ibis Island, was now being romantic with her. As she was thinking about this, she subtly realized something else. She had feelings for Kirk. It didn't feel exactly right to her. What would Gail, Rick and everyone else at S.O.R.T. think if they knew of Regina's feelings for that man? She felt that won't be able to tell Kirk of her feelings for him. Things were too awkward between them now.

And I don't want the world to see me

'Cause I don't think that they'd understand

When everything's made to be broken

I just want you to know who I am
