"Eh, Captain look at that," said Mr. Gibbs pointing at a parrot flying their way.
"Well now that's a peculiar sight," Jack Sparrow replied. The two pirates watched the bird as it flew nearer. When it approached the Black Pearl, it landed and started squawking very loudly.
"What on earth is it doing that for?" Jack yelled. The parrot then began to chase one of the crew members. He screamed and ran, knocking over a lot of the cargo. He continued running until he tripped over the railing and fell overboard with a loud splash.
"You! You there!" Mr. Gibbs shouted at the bird. He tried to shoo it away but it was a stubborn parrot and proceeded to squawk even louder. The bird flew down and caused Mr. Gibbs to drop his smoke pipe that he had been smoking. All would have been fine if he hadn't dropped it in a barrel of gunpowder.
"Captain! There is a ship approaching!" shouted another crew member.
"Ready the ca…" Jack was cut off by the loud explosion of the barrel. Everyone took cover as the fire spread to more of the barrels. All Mr. Gibbs could see was a mass of red and black. His ears felt like they were about to burst. He yelled as someone grabbed his arms and began to drag him away. He struggled to see who it was for his vision was still blurred. He heard the shouts of his fellow crew members. Mr. Gibbs looked down and realized that he was being led over a plank. The dark blue water glistened beneath him. He looked ahead and saw another ship in front of him. This was when he realized that the Black Pearl was being ambushed.
When Mr. Gibbs vision finally cleared, he saw the rest of his crew and his Captain. Jack was looking very frustrated. "Pearlie…..parlili….PARLEY! Yes, that's the word. Parley!"
"Yes, stick to the code," Mr. Gibbs added.
"No," said their captor, Captain Calle. "They are more like guidelines. Guidelines which I do not follow," Calle said cruelly. Jack sighed and looked very disappointed.
When they were all locked up in the belly of the ship, Jack said loudly, "I swear Gibbs, you are too clumsy for your own good. Look what you got us into."
"S..sorry Captain," Mr. Gibbs replied his face turning red. He sat down on the wet floor of their cell.
A few hours later one of Calle's men came down to make sure that they were still there. Mr. Gibbs got up but he slipped and thrashed around frantically for something to grab on to. His hand closed around something cold and hard, and then he fell with a crash. Everyone had moved away from him. When he got up, he saw that the guard had left.
"Gibbs, what is in your hand," Jack Sparrow asked. Unclenching his hand, Mr. Gibbs saw a key lying in his palm.
"The key Captain, I've got the key!" he said excitedly.
"Well done Gibbs. Well done. For once your clumsiness did us some good," said a surprised Jack.
Mr. Gibbs unlocked the cell door and led the crew on deck. Calle yelled with frustration as they fought his crew. Once Calle's the members crew were either thrown overboard or locked in the belly of the ship, Jack took hold of the wheel. "Well Mr. Gibbs, it looks like you're the hero today."
"Thank you Captain," replied a smiling Mr. Gibbs.
"Now, bring me that horizon," said the captain.
