#Okay, my first MAJOR fanfic on this site. I really don't know how it will turn out, but here we go. I can only hope you guys enjoy it. This story will include references to Undertale as well as a few other things, so don't be hating if that's not your thing.
Also, I've posted another story on my profile called 'Hunger'. It effectively serves as my character's trailer, like the main characters of RWBY had. If given another name, his trailer would be called Purple, as he is mainly associated with the colour.
Hope you enjoy!
Welp.
Looks like a beautiful day outside.
People are screaming, blood is flowing.
And fair to say, things were definitely hell right now.
The small town of Larnwick was normally a nice place to be, friendly people, good food, all the good stuff.
That was until Judgement Day.
The day humanity released havoc upon their own species.
The day humanity sealed their fate, by taking the wrong life.
The day where a writer realised the start to their crossover story sounded similar to Terminator.
But I digress.
A lone woman with long, jet-black hair was running through the streets, clutching a hand gun like a life-line. She was hyperventilating.
Normally, she would be calm, and composed, but that was when she was with her friends. Corpses littered the walkways, some freshly decomposed, while others were just crushed bones. Empty cars were scattered on the road, as if waiting for someone to climb inside and drive off.
It wasn't until she heard the scraping of metal and four knocks, did she decide to hide behind a cherry red Jeep Renegade.
It was said that the knocks were a sign that the Monster had his eye on you. And that once you could hear the sounds of a metal axe dragging across rough surfaces, you were as good as dead.
It wasn't long before the voice of a male, a teenager, spoke, his voice cutting through the deathly silence like a hot knife through butter.
"Little lady... Come out, come out, wherever you are! HAHAHA!"
The slow, dragging footsteps became louder, and louder, until they stopped right next to the red 4x4.
The woman risked the chance to take a peek. She peered over the bonnet, and saw him. Standing with his back to her, was the infamous Monster.
Most monsters usually took the form of a mutant, of some sort of werewolf or vampire. The being she was staring at was worse than all three combined.
It was a human adolescent, she remembered. He wore a baggy grey winter coat with a fur collar and a grey hoodie underneath, as well as tattered jeans and black boots. The teen looked humongous, and blood was splattered all over his jacket.
Legend has it that the Monster used to be a great hero, before suddenly turning on the very people he had saved before. Many attempts had been made to stop him but all had failed, the results ending in a feast for the Monster, who had a taste for human flesh. In the end, the Council had abandoned any hope for reclaiming the town, and simply covered it up as a Grimm attack, hiding the truth from the rest of the world.
He sniffed the air, seemingly searching for any sign of his prey. The woman dived back down behind the car, huddling her legs to her chest. She held her breath.
Things were quiet for a few moments, but to her, it felt like ages.
Eventually, the Monster wandered off, seemingly having lost track of her.
The woman didn't move nor make a sound, until the footsteps had trailed away. Even then, she stayed quiet, just in case.
After a second, she took a sigh of relief, shaking with joy that she escaped to live another day.
"There you are."
Her breath caught in her throat, the unmistakeable voice of the Monster coming from directly above her. She could only catch the glint of light on a sharp metal object, before her head was cleaved off.
Joe stared at his work, satisfied with the method.
'Heheheh... It's a good thing she sighed. I wouldn't have been able to hear her, otherwise.' He thought, licking the blood off the blade of his trusty axe. He shuddered at the metallic taste, a familiar feeling to him. 'Oh well. She deserved it. She did try to stab me after all.
Joe placed the tool in it's special harness on his back, two leather straps with a pouch where the handle would go.
He grabbed the headless body of the woman by the arm, and began to drag it away, back to his little Hot-Dog stand, his little home. It was quite far away, at least two miles, and Joe couldn't teleport that kind of distance.
So, he started on a nice calm walk. It gave him time to think things over.
It had been a long while since the last Hunter or Huntress had come by. He almost missed the exercise it gave him, allowing him to keep really agile.
Once they fell he could use their weapons to upgrade his own. It had started out as just a normal axe, but over time, he had collected enough scraps and parts to transform it into a beast of a weapon. It could now transform into a Javelin, a sword, and a gigantic Scythe. Not only that but the weapon was attached to his right forearm via a special chain, meaning it would never be lost.
His beast machine of a weapon instantly carved through anyone unfortunate to meet it's thirsty blade. But then, the numbers dwindled, until they stopped altogether. While he welcomed the challenge and sport they had provided, he just felt rather empty.
The sky was always blood red, and a cloud of red mist had permanently settled over the town. The days and nights had just merged together, so Joe was never really sure as to what time it was. No sun, no moon, nothing. He just assumed it was night.
Just then, a bright light interrupted his train of thought, and Joe shielded his eye from it. He eventually peeked through his fingers and immediately stared in wonder.
The source of the brightness was a portal of some kind, and it looked so enticing. He dropped the women's headless corpse and slowly stumbled towards it, hypnotised by it.
However, as he reached his hand out, Joe suddenly became trapped in a vaccum, and was thrown into the portal. From the outside, the portal became unstable, fluctuating and pulsing, until it suddenly expanded outward, obliterating everything in its wake.
When the light finally disappeared, the entire town of Larnwick had been vapourised, leaving no trace that it was ever there.
The peaceful quiet over the City of Vale was shattered, by the bellow of a wild animal.
"AH SSSHHHHHIIIIIIIIIIIITTTTTTTTT!"
Joe slammed face-first into the ground, looking an upside-down snow-angel. Pulling himself up, he wiped the dirt granules off of his fur collar, grumbling to himself.
"Stupid dirt... Always getting in my clothes..."
"Greetings." He heard a young, feminine voice greet themselves. He looked up, and saw a woman standing before him, wearing a white cloak. "Might I ask what you are doing here?"
Joe stood up straight, hands in his pockets. His right eye stared down at the woman, scrutinizing every detail about her.
She seemed to wear black clothing, the only colour breaker being her white cloak. Her hair was black with red tips, but the most peculiar thing about her was her eyes.
They were silver.
Before he could comment on anything else, the woman spoke up.
"Are you alright? You seem to be spacing out." She asked.
"Hmm? Oh, yeah. I'm all good." Joe said. "You know, falling out of the sky and stuff. It's all good." He chuckled, diverting his sight elsewhere. It was then, that he caught the familiar sight of a gravestone behind her. His eye widened with shock.
"Oh my goodness, I am so sorry!" He said, jumping back. "I didn't know you were visiting a relative, and I interrupted on your private time..."
The woman giggled. "It's alright. I don't mind."
"No, I literally fell from the sky, and barged in on your special time with whoever that is," He pointed at the grave behind her. "Is there anyway I can make it up to you?"
The woman seemed to think about this for a moment, keeping the gigantic teen on his toes in suspense.
"Well, there is one thing you can do for me." She said after a while.
" Sure, go for it."
The white-cloaked figure sighed. "I have a daughter, her name is Ruby Rose. I feel that she is in great danger, from almost everyone around her." Joe nodded. "So please, watch over her, and protect her, will you not? With all of your life?"
'Bodyguard detail? That's all?' Joe thought, before nodding again. "You got it. No matter what, I won't allow any harm to come to her. Do you have a photograph of her?"
The figure nodded, and produced a picture of a young girl with black hair and red tips, passing it to Joe. The woman then walked away, uttering a 'thank you' to him.
"Wait! Miss!" The woman stopped and looked back. "What's your name?"
She smiled, and replied, "Summer. Summer Rose." Summer disappeared in a bright flash of light and a swirl of white petals, blinding the boy.
"AH! Can't see! Blinded!" Joe stumbled away from the gravestone, missing the text emblazoned on right on front.
'Summer Rose, Thus Kindly I Scatter.'
