Disclaimer: I don't own the Gallagher Girls series, Ally Carter does.

The Decision

Third Person PoV

"I think we can handle another Gallagher Girl in the family."

"Hm?" Rachel paused in step as she watched Matthew tuck their only daughter into bed. In the hallway, she dimmed the light into semi-darkness. "You're agreeing that she should go to the Gallagher Academy?" she whispered.

"Of course," he replied, "she's going to find out anyway. Cammie is very much like your sister and like me. She'll understand."

The young woman sighed, going downstairs to find a snack at night, Matthew following after. Her feet went into well-worn slippers as she padded down to the kitchen. "I always wanted her to have a normal life. Something where she wouldn't worry if we'd come back in a casket or a body bag." She went through the information in her head like a file cabinet. "And she's only nine."

"Being a spy is permanent, Rachel, we might as well make the decision now…" he said, frowning.

"I know." She muttered.

"And that's why we have to enjoy what we have. I've always seen the silver lining of the cloud…" Matthew began.

"…And I haven't. I know. I'm glass-half-empty spy." Rachel finished.

The couple sat in the kitchen, watching a plate of Oreos in the middle of the table, being tired as they were. For minutes, there was only a string of silence that divided the vibrant thoughts in their brains.

Cammie knew they were spies. She knew a few secret techniques, unintentional to both, and she cracked an NSA code at the age of four.

Those were the qualities of a spy.

"Do you know what I'm thinking?" Rachel spoke softly, breaking the silence as she laid a hand over Matthew's arm. It trailed to his hand. She had been thinking deeply.

"You're not going to help me finish these Oreos?" Matthew joked.

"No." she said, straight-faced. Her husband pouted. Rachel let loose a smile. "I'm agreeing with you."

"I guess that's settled, then." The together, they both raised their glass of milk in toast.

"Cammie is going to the Gallagher Academy for Exceptional Young Women," Matthew blurted, "shouldn't there be a celebration for this?"

"…Oreos?"

Matchel is one of my non-canon (possible canon) pairings! And I don't like how they put Mrs. Morgan into situations of having Joseph Solomon or Edward Townsend being soulmates, because it doesn't fit. (I ship Ed with Abby, and Joe who may or may not have a relationship with another woman...)
