The interior of the tent was lit only by a small jar of blue flame on the floor of the sitting room. Hermione could barely see Ron as he sat up in bed and turned to her.

"Are you awake?" he whispered.

"Yes."

"You know I'm really sorry that I left. I've felt horrible about it and- and I feel even worse knowing you're still mad at me."

She sighed. "I'm not mad. I was, but now I'm just glad you're here again."

Hermione slipped out of bed, her nightgown trailing on the floor as she went to sit on Ron's bunk.

"Harry-" he warned.

"His watch won't end for hours." She leaned in close and hesitatingly kissed the surprised boy. It took a moment, but he finally responded, eagerly leaning into her, their lips pressed together in an intimate embrace.

Hermione pulled back. "Can I \- well, can I lie with you, just for a little while?"

"Of course you can."

They snuggled together on the narrow bunk, arms wrapped around each other. In no time Hermione drifted off to sleep, while Ron lay awake marveling at his luck.
